An absolutely wonderful book telling about the wisdom that comes with age
This book is amazing. It is a breath of fresh air for the older crowd in our country. The wisdom in this book made me realize how wise people become and how special the later years are in our lives are. There all kinds of hidden wonders that are hiding in plain site for people over a certain age. This book reminds me of all the great things in my life that I had not realized. The wisdom of the Chinese author 2600 years ago applies completely today. This is not a long intellectual boring book. It is made of quick phrases and paragraphs where the author, William Martin, interprets the Tao for the rest of us to understand. The wisdom is there without the endless original phrases that are a bit abstract and hard for the rest of us to follow without years of study. Thank you William Martin. For the rest of you, I hope you enjoy this book.

Important perspective
A friend gave me this book, then I bought it for a loved one. Anyone who is aging and wondering what value they still have, as the world passes them by, as they begin to feel less and less relevant to the world, needs to steep themselves in this book's wisdom. Here we find a mirror that shows the most delightful, valuable, beautiful things about ourselves, just as we are - not in spite of, but because we are old. Important stuff for people to realize.

Empowering!!!
This little book is dynamite in disguise. If you are anywhere near middle age, buy this book and let its words of wisdom on becoming a sage soothe and strengthen your soul!!! Our youth-oriented society does nothing to help us as we grow older. In fact, it perpetuates the myth that we all want to be eternally young. NOT!! Aging gracefully is an art and this book will help you tremendously on your life's path. The power behind each verse is awesome, empowering, enlightening and luminous. For instance, this second half of Verse 25 entitled, 'We Are A River', sums it up beautifully and poetically:Don't accept the modern myths of aging. You are not declining. You are not fading away into uselessness. You are a sage,a river at its deepestand most nourishing.Sit by a riverbank some timeand watch attentively as the rivertells you of your life.

Bill Martin must receive downloads from above
I met Bill years ago, as he shared his meditation meeting place with my own meditation group when we needed a transition meeting place. I remember his collection of books on the shelf which he had written and never got into them until I started attending a Tao Te Ching meditation group last fall. So many translations, yet, I seem to refer to Bill's for parents/2nd half of life on a regular basis for clarity. What a sage, you are, sir.

Wisdom for the Long Haul
There are innumerable books on the market that purport to offer doses of wisdom for living. Most are not very helpful if you are a well-read person. Of course, there are the classic texts of major world religious traditions. To these classics you may want to add this collection based on the Tao Te Ching. This is a book of wisdom to ponder and absorb. You can read it quickly, but will benefit more by trying a reflection a day. It's worth the time.
