Hayward W3CC15093S XStream Above-Ground Pool Filter Pump System, 1.5 HP

I absolutely love this pump and filter combo set for my new 18’ round above ground pool. It is a little overkill for only 7,200 gallons, but it keeps my water crystal clear and beautiful! Great value! Now let’s get to the good stuff…. Since this is a filter AND a pump sold together, let’s talk about the filter first. It comes with one cartridge that should last you all season. It is very easy to clean. I only had to clean mine once a month, but I am OCD with my pool care so I’ve never had any algae and it is usually only myself and maybe one other person using the pool, so that is likely why. If you have kids or a heavier bather load or pool parties, you will probably need to clean it weekly or bi-weekly. Just spray it with the hose and you’re good to go. I plan on throwing out the cartridge at the end of each season and starting over with a fresh one when I open each spring. Filter weighs about 60 lbs or so and is easy to bring inside and store during the winter if you get freezing temps. No winterizing process like there is with a sand filter, which is too heavy to bring indoors. Now the pump! It is 1.5 horsepower and is a beast! It is overkill for my pool and I love it. My water stays crystal clear and beautiful all summer. The ONLY complaint I have about the pump is it has no timer at all! Even my cheaper Intex pump had the option to run the pump for a certain amount of hours. This one I have to manually turn off. It is single-speed, so running it 24/7 can do a little damage to the electric bill. I usually only run it during the day and give it a break at night, but could easily get by only running it 4 hours a day for my 7,200 gallon pool. Pump is easy to clean and store inside during the winter if you “close” your pool. Overall, I highly recommend this product. After one season with this cartridge filter, I will never use a sand filter ever again! No more backwashing and it is so much lighter and can be brought inside and doesn’t need “winterized” like a sand filter does. The pump is very powerful. Sorry I didnt take any photos (you can see part of it in one of the pics on the far left-hand side) of just the filter and pump by themselves. I will update my review with more pics this spring when we open the pool and set up the equipment again. You can see how clean and clear it keeps my water, though! I love this pump, but I would take half of a star off if I could just because there is no timer, only an on or off switch. Buy it!!

I first ordered this product a month before I re-ordered. The order was cancelled on the day I was supposed to receive it due to not being available. I am not sure if I ordered it from this seller. However, given the present world situation, and my experiences with everything I have tried to get done the past year and a half, I do not hold it's unavailability against anyone. The second time I ordered it, it came earlier than the stated date. I installed it today. This is a fairly simple product to install. It works well. It is exactly like the one I replaced, which lasted me thirteen years, and is being replaced because I simply wore it out. The last one sat in the weather all year round and ran almost the whole year every year. I have every reason to believe that this one will perform just as well as the last one did. The installation instructions are a little vague, but installation of this product is really easy to figure out. I thought the price was a little high, but they are no higher than anyone else. So if you are going to buy this product you are going to pay this much. I am pleased with this purchase.

Received a defective pump now I’m having issues with returning the product. Seems the company wants me to pay for the shipping ! Are they serious? …..UPDATE…..yes they are !! Now I have to find someone with a truck to haul this 70lb box that won’t fit inside my trunk …..PAY the INSURANCE and All SHIPPING Cost which they say they will reimburse ….. has anyone ever shipped/insured a package lately across the country ? Can’t wait to see that bill ….. my wife and I are in our mid 60’s we don’t own a vehicle that would fit this 70lb box ….. THE RIGHT WAY TO DO THIS since we received this by UPS send a driver with a call tag (ARS) label and pickup the package prepaid ! I was willing to exchange just the motor after the first day but that’s another whole story . I really did like how the pool filter worked until I noticed the leaking pump .So bottom line is …..if you’re lucky enough to get a filter that works great but if you don't get ready to do a lot of lifting, transporting , shelling out MORE MONEY and the headache that goes with it . DEFINITELY DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY…. October 2 2024 as of today Amazon now refuses to honor their A-Z guarantee on shipping refunds. It cost me $457.66 to ship this back to BPS RED in Trenton TX and now AMAZON is refusing to refund my money . BUYER BEWARE

After struggling for 8 weeks trying to get our 30' round doughboy to clean up after a particularly bad winter / spring (lots of dirt, tons of algae despite following my regular fall shutdown procedures) I turned to this hayward xstream cartridge filter after reading reviews on this and several other sites. My doughboy sand filter was not filtering out the fine particles of algae at all... changed the sand twice and inspected the internal components both times. Tried adding DE as some suggest to no avail. Considered getting a DE filter but the looked like (and my brother in law can attest to) they were fairly time consuming and prone to repair. Sooo... out of desperation I ordered this filter - even sprung for Saturday delivery. About 45 minutes spent on installation and then... WOW! After only a half hour of running the filter there was a visible difference in the clarity of the pool water. Two hours later we were enjoying our first swim of the summer. This filter is AWESOME. BUT... do NOT use the hoses provided by Hayward in the kit. I used one between the pump and filter. My pump is on a timer. After about 10 days of use the hose broke whilst we were out and the pump emptied about 4,500 gallons from the pool and then ran dry for several hours. Replaced it with the other provided hose and it didn't last the weekend (caught it early this time). both split along a design seam near the middle of the hose. Put my old hose back on and no problems since. Bottom line... the hoses provided by Hayward are junk. Fortunately Amazon is great with warranty and we had a replacement pump a few days later (although they send the UPS guy out to pick up the old one before you have the replacement and that's kinda a pain since you really need the packaging from the replacement to return the defective one). As far as the filter and pump though, I'd give it 10 stars if the ratings would let me. We've never had such crystal clear. I love that I'm not back-flushing every week. Cartridges last weeks or months before requiring cleaning (we're rural and have a lot of wind-blown chaff, dirt and gravel dust). One last tip: buy an extra filter to have on hand right away to minimize downtime in the pool. Swap filters and then you have all the time in the world to clean and use dawn detergent (to remove floccing agents) on the dirty cartridge.

Year number 2, and its still running flawlessly, last year and this year, with the amount of traffic we have in our pool, this thing runs 24/7 all summer, I honestly hope it lasts the rest of this year, and I will buy a spare pump for next season just in case this does fail next year, but my pool is crystal clear the pump is powerful, once a week I vaccuum the dirt that didnt make its way to the filter, but thats normal. The price on amazon couldnt be beat, local stores wanted at least 200 more for the same system. My only complaint are the filters, mine wont last a whole season, but it may be due.to the fact that everyday at least 5 kids are in the pool throughout the day or all at once. Once you start cleaning the cartridge, it doesnt filter as well. I clean it once then throw it out and get a new 1. 3 filters lasts me a whole season.

Pool filter died and I needed a replacement fast. Shipped and received in 2 days. The filter was easy to install and works much better than the old one. When i installed I did not use the included teflon tape on the connections. Instead I used Rectorseal T plus 2 which is a far superior sealant than teflon tape. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was: One of the hoses included with the filter had a defect causing it to leak. The pump motor also included a standard 3 prong plug with no option to get a 30A 3 prong twist lock plug which is required to meet code in my state. I had to swap out the cord and use the one from the old filter.

Been using this system for over two years now and it works as good as the day it was installed. Setup and installation was simple and easy. Have not had to replace any components and had no leaks. Great suction for vacuuming and the inlet pressure is very strong to help circulate the water. Get yourself at least one extra filter cartridge for in between cleanings or back up. Had a sand filter prior and would never go back. Using it on a 27' x 48" round, above ground pool. Does an amazing job, would definitely buy again.

This is a filter I hoped to love, but now I loathe. I've had this filter just over two years. If it makes it to three, it will be a miracle. Setup is easy. The filters were not great. I had a clean(ish) pool, but cloudy. To fix that I went to a non Hayward filter. That made the water clear. The motor sucks. It failed. The wiring in the housing had the neutral wire come out of its terminal. Easy fix but this should not happen. The second time was when I noticed the pump was not running. Power was being supplied. I turned the power off, turned the power on, saw a wonderful blue flash, the smell of ozone, and a nice large puff of smoke. I took it apart to find that the wires were still attached, but there was an burned arc across them. Great job guys. Really top notch. I could not find a replacement motor that did not warrant a bake sale, selling my blood, or creating an onlyfans page for burned out filters. What I did find was an aftermarket motor and strainer assembly. It runs well, but it also has to work with Satan's mother in law aka this filer. The final straw was a routine filter change. Take the dirty one out, put the clean one in, put the lid on, and start spinning the locking collar. Not today. One and one half turns in it locks up like two dogs in heat. Try to get it off and it's like nope. Eventually I got it off. Try again. And again. And again. And again. And again. It appears that my rubber gasket, my rubber band it tired. Take it off, lube it up, put it back on, open the valves, and water pours forth form the collar. The rubber band laughs, and the filter is now not operable. The water flow works great on a clean filter and diminishes based on dirt. This filter is as reliable as the weatherman was when we were kids hoping for a snow day. All talk. Hopes and dreams crushed. When it works, it works ok, but for the amount of hassle, I am strongly considering something else. This is my third Hayward filter and the brand has not impressed me.
