Great for gluten free bread
When I had to remove gluten from my diet, the food that I missed the most was bread. If you have ever tried the expensive tapioca bread that is hermetically sealed and shipped here from Japan, you know that commercial gluten-free breads might be OK for toast, but do not do a sandwich justice. I found some appetizing gluten-free bread recipes on the internet that had been formulated for bread machine use. I had always made bread the old-fashioned way, but gluten free breads don't hold up like wheat breads and are hard to shape and rise. I broke down and bought this bread machine from Amazon based on good reviews from others, and I have been really satisfied. I have tried 2 different recipes and made them about a dozen times. It's foolproof - put the ingredients in and press the button, and 3 hours later you have fresh bread. Each time I have made the breads I have been pleased with a consistent product that actually tastes like bread and has the right texture.I also purchased "The Gluten-Free Gourmet Bakes Bread" by Bette Hagman from Amazon. Her recipes are calibrated for three different size loaves. This bread maker does best with the medium-size loaf ingredient list.

I give up
The first unit we received lasted 2 weeks. It worked great for those two weeks. I was very happy with the bread it made although it does take some practice to get the proportions of the ingredients right. After two weeks the unit suddenly shut off while making bread and nothing we could do would get it to power up. We returned it for a replacement. This time, on the very first loaf we made, the paddle scraped the bottom of the pan while mixing the dough, scraping off the non-stick surface of the pan leaving a huge gouge. We double checked to see if we'd inadvertently put the paddle on incorrectly but there was nothing wrong with it. So I'm sending it back again. This time I'll buy a different brand. This is very disappointing because our previous Breadman unit lasted over 5 years and made 100s of loaves. We replaced it only because the pan began leaking and it wasn't cost effective to replace the pan. Now I'm sorry we didn't :(About the only thing nice I can say about this is that I'm glad the units failed during Amazon's return period. They were very good about the return and cross shipping a new unit.

Good machine, does the job
After seven years of experience and going through three machines (1 cuisinart, 1 oyster and 1 breadman) I must say that ALL THESE MACHINES ARE THE SAME. Basically, they last two years maximum. After that, the pan gets all rusted and the bottom falls apart. They look different on the outside mais are EXACTLY the same on the inside.1. The pan is the same2. The instructions varies slightly (water, flour, salt and yeast)3. The baking time is the same4. The bread taste the same.I always use the same ingredients (in that order):2 tsp salt1 1/2 cup of water2 cups flour (I swear by Bob Redmill)2 tsp yeast (Star that I buy by the bult at Smart & Final)THIS IS TRUE FRENCH BREAD. Forget about the sugar, the milk and all that other stuff. You don't really need it.The only advantage with the Breadman machine is that collapsible handle at the bottom of the pan, which is really convenient so you can leave your bread machine working alone, and when the bread is done, you turn the pan upside down, shake it, and the bread comes off easily. With non collapsible handles, you better not miss when the machine signals you to remove the handle otherwise it is going to be a big pain to remove the bread from the pan, and eventually, when you succeed, the handle will come with it and make a big hole at the bottom of the bread. Now, for the minus of this machine: The bottom got scratched with the handle from the very first bread, which means that we ate some teflon. I hope that eating a little teflon is not too bad... we certainly eat a lot of food that have lot of junk in it we don't know about. If the machine lasts more than 2 years, it will be a winner for the price.

Not the best bread machine
This machine is really not worth the money i spent. It tends to not cook completely however the crust over bakes. It doesnt mix well, leaving a considerable amount of flour on the sides.

Perfect bread every time
I couldn't be happier with the Breadman BK1060S 2-Pound Professional Bread Maker with Collapsible Kneading Paddles and Automatic Fruit and Nut Dispenser! I've made half a dozen loaves using packaged mixes and I've had nothing but great luck with this machine. This is my second go-round with an automatic bread maker. I purchased one of these units (not manufactured by Breadman) when they first appeared on the market many years ago, and it failed to perform on every attempt. I returned it. Recently I decided to buy another and after looking around decided on this model.Success! The Breadman makes it stupid-simple to generate great results...but again, I can only comment on its performance with pre-packaged bread mixes. It's just a matter of placing the ingredients into the pan, make setting selection, and hitting the start button. Highly recommended!

Folding paddle is a flop
I bought this to replace an old friend. The Breadman TR2200 had made many great loaves over the years. The bushing in the bottom of the pan had worn to the point the seal leaked. I tried to order parts from Breadman's web site but my order was ignored. I reluctantly ordered a new bread maker from Amazon. I expected the Breadman BK1060S to be a refined replacement. My wife liked the folding paddle and the stainless everything. At first, the bread maker worked as expected. My wife experimented with the recipies in the book. When she made smaller loaves, the paddle would lay down during the kneeding cycle. I tried to put the paddle in the upright position but it layed back down. I guess the dough ball plops down on it and smaller dough balls hit it just right to colapse it. In addition to not working the dough, the colapsed paddle scraped the non stick coating off of the pan when the shaft rotates. Then, three months on, long after I had tossed my old friend in the junk bin, the replacement bread pan showed up. Talk about slow service. The good news is the pan from a Breadman TR2xxx fits in the Breadman BK1060S. The paddle doesn't fold, but we can make bread again. So if you have one of these bread makers, order a pan from a Breadman TR2xxx. If you are contimplating purchasing this machine, buy a Breadman TR2700 instead.

Great product
This is a wonderful product. I bought this because food allergies to milk, soy and eggs was limiting the foods I can buy and eat. This is a life saver. If you follow the recipes bread turns out excellent. Replacing eggs with apple juice works well for sweet breads. Replacing water with apple juice makes french bread softer. I also made pizza dough and the pizza was yummy!

Bad customer service - the paddle scrapes off the non-stick coating
Breadman BK1060S 2-Pound Professional Bread Maker with Collapsible Kneading Paddles and Automatic Fruit and Nut DispenserI bought this breadmachine three months ago. Since the first time I tried it didn't work. The kneading paddle scratched the non-stick coating off the bread pan. I emailed customer serviced to ask for a replacement. They said they would send the replacement parts. This was more than two months ago and they still haven't sent anything. I email them every week and they don't give me a time estimate.I cannot review how this bread maker works because in the three months I've had it, it's been broken. All I can say is that if your machine is defective, return it as soon as possible to amazon.com, because Applica-Consumer-Affairs will not help you and you will end up like me with an useless breadmaker just using up counter space.

Love it!
The paddles donโt lay flat but does leave a smaller hole. But it makes tasty fluffy bread. Iโve used it almost every week for 7 months now.

Great purchase.
I bought this as a gift for my son. He loves it and is especially happy with the mixer/flapper that retracts so there is no large hole in the bottom of the loaf.
