Cant Believe It Worked
Some of the windshield molding on my van started to come loose and flapping in the wind. Turns out, the plastic molding piece had numerous broken clips and the brackets on the vehicle weren't much better. Just for the short molding replacement piece was about $60, plus new brackets (5, and another $20). My original plan was to use this Permatex to glue the new pieces and brackets.I've seen Permatex in several auto repair shops, and the price was small--so I thought "why not see if it works by itself?" No new parts. After applying (use gloves this stuff is hard to get off) and using masking tape to keep the broken plastic piece in place, it's 1-Hour for it to set and 24-Hours for full cure. I avoided driving the van until the 24-hours passed, and I literally held my breath taking the tape off. It's been two months since I used this, and it's still holding. There wasn't a lot to hold onto between the old molding piece and the vehicle, so I'm still stunned it work. I've seen a lot of things in my day and am still beside myself that this actually worked. This was a $ fix for an otherwise $$$ fix.

I use this for more than just an adhesive
I used this rubber adhesive to fill in a gap from a worn area on a boot heel where I had installed a metal cleat. It has held up very well.It also secured a worn rubber cleat where there wasn’t much to nail the cleat to and also became a filler besides adhesive on a heel on another set of boots.Highly recommend this product.

Good bond
I like this product. However is does cause kind of a mess so be careful. It holds pretty well and dries down pretty quickly but not so quick that you have to move super fast.

works well
Works fine but very messy clean-up. these tubes are great - you don't have to buy a whole lot, but not so great to run a uniform bead as with a caulking gun.

Don't use it on your shoes!
This stuff is NOT the same as Shoe Goo. For a while now I've been almost resoling some back soled shoes (they're no longer made) with Shoe Goo as I have over pronation and the back side of the heel wears out fast. I often would rebuild the heel with SG, then during the first walk it would sort of sand itself back to smooth and blend right in. Foolishly, I tried doing the same thing with this stuff and it behaved very differently. Where SG is more like liquid rubber, this stuff is more just like black caulking. So it rebuild my heel but rather then sort of sanding down like a normal shoe sole (or SG) it instead just sort of tears away and rips. It still sticks to your shoe (so far anyway) but it will forever look messy. I learned my lesson here, as is often true, you get what you pay for. Back to Shoe Goo I go. I'm sure this stuff is great for other things, but I would strongly not recommend it for shoes. FWIW, I don't think they do either but I saw a reviewer or two here who did. There were some parts of the shoe where the sole was pulling away and I tried to sort of glue those spots like I do with SG and it sadly failed there too.
