UPDATED: I was pleasantly surprised when the seller reached out to me after reading my review. I DID NOT contact the seller or initiate a return as the original review below shows, it was my fault for breaking the fan. Seller sent me a replacement as well as a fan grill even after I told them I wasn't expecting them to. A rare gem in customer service these days. The fan itself still has the same flaws but the customer service makes this a 5/5 experience ------------------ I know, I know, you aren't supposed to stick your fingers in spinning fans. I had plugged the fan in just to make sure it worked before I installed it in the final destination. It clipped my thumb and one of the fins shattered! Before the fin broke these fans were quite quiet. Now they make some noise because of the uneven cadence due to the missing fin. The fans work as advertised but I have never broken a fan before in the dozens that I have handled, by simply brushing the fin.

On the plus side, the fan works fine. FYI, if you are using the fan to replace a bad fan on a Rosewill external hard drive case, the connector is not compatible. You have to cut the connector off of the new fan wires and splice/solder the connector wires from the old fan so that it will plug into the board. It is not hard or long to do. You have to remove all 4 side panels and remove the HDD to change the fan. The fan is held in by 4 screws. It is pretty easy.

I was pleasantly surprised the package has two fans in it, not just one. They are nice and quiet while maintaining a slim profile. The only way they would be better is if they had a 3-pin RPM sense connection for standard PC fan usage.

The fan fit exactly as it should and it works well, but the cords on the plug were installed opposite of what my existing cords were on the originally installed fan. I had to remove the wires from the plug on the replacement fan and switch the cables to the other side of the plug in order to get it to work. What a PIA! If I ever have to do it again, I'll simply cut the old wires and splice them into the new wires and avoid the hassle of having to deal with the plug itself. It's almost impossible to remove the cables and switch them unless you have the proper tool to do so and how many of us have those tools??? -- and if you don't, there's a good chance that you're going to damage the connectors on the end of the wire. I finally got things to work but it took a lot more effort than it should have.

Installed this on back of ham radio to add more air, it worked as described.

Needed this fan to replace one in a small thermoelectric cooler belonging to a friend. The original fan was shot due to age and neglect. When I first looked at the cooler, the intake grill was caked with dust and lint, and the fan was bound up with the same. The fan would barely run, and made a lot of noise. I believe the bearing was going out, as cleaning the fan didn't help. So decided to replace the fan before it failed and caused the thermoelectric element to burn up. Found this fan at a very reasonable price, and the dimensions were a perfect fit. A little snip-snip, some solder, and heat-shrink tubing to cover the splices, and it was up and running, whisper-quiet. Good purchase.
