I watched a video review on it and the man doing the review kept trying to blend his veggies or fruit by starting in the upside down position and then moving it to the upright position. Many times he was unsuccessful and critical. My experience is that I would be just as disappointed and critical were I to solely do what he did. Instead, I start in the upside down position, move slowly to the upright, but when I see that the blades are struggling, I move it back to the upside down position and again move it slowly upright. I may do this several times before all of the chunks are well blended. Another thing I'll do is shake it while it's blending. In any event, if you use large dense chunks of food, and then expect it to blend without periodically changing the position of the blender, you will be disappointed. I have had no problems whatsoever. And like the guy in the video review, it makes great margaritas! Review: I love it! - I so love this portable blender! Right out the box I charged it cleaned it and it worked! It even blend in my frozen fruit oh, but only after I let it softened up a little. I'm so happy I was able to get this for $18 and some change after tax! I would have bought one for all of my family if I wasn't so frugal LOL. But I did tell them about it so they can buy their own. I may end up buying another one for myself in the event that this one dies on me down the line. Great little invention for smoothie lovers! Con: when your drink gets warm you're not able to cool it back up unless you pour it out of the smoothie blender and re-chill it. I think you have to order another blender for an extra cup or look for another type that comes with an extra cup. I haven't seen just the cup for sale. However, it does not have enough power. When trying to crush ice for a smoothie it shuts off so it has to be rearranged. Even after it does crush the ice it still leaves a big chunk. You also have to cut the fruit/vegetables into very small pieces. The motor just does not have enough power to cut them up if not.
