Total novice, totally intrigued
I’m a total garden novice and spend my time puttering around in the dirt simply because I love it. I picked this book up randomly, and had almost no idea of the content prior to reading. It kept my attention the entire time and I found myself repeatedly sharing what I learned from the book with my family. By the end, they were even excited and asking “learn anything new in your flower book dad?” Haha! What a joy. It’s a really great read. The pictures are well placed and always useful. Every so often there are little sub-sections that offer a quick tip (honest feedback) on many of the gardening tools/methods that are currently used (i.e. weed block fabric, hydrogels, nutrient injectors, etc). I love these sections because they feel like quick, backyard, no B.S. conversations with a expert neighbor gardener :) Linda just tells it like it is, from experience.5/5 for me - I even started keeping a separate journal, with drawings and notes of what I found most fascinating in this book. Looking forward to passing on “How Plants Work” to my children and grandchildren!

Lots of new information to inform my gardening
Really good book to explain some of the science behind pants and how to use that knowledge to get better gardens.

Nice book
It was a little warped when I received it, but it’s a really nice book, very clear and clean images and writing style. Look forward to starting it!

Very interesting and enjoyable read.
If you, like me, love gardens and are a curious person you will love this one.It has some depth but at the same time it is a very easy read if you like biology and plant physiology. It is not the complete final work on the subject but it achieves to get you closer to it without boring or tiring you.Recommended.
