Simply an excellent eReader
I selected a 7 inch Kobo Libra H2O, White color as replacement for previously used my son's 6 inch Kindle Ad-supported. It is more expensive but in the end I am very happy with my choice. It fits perfectly into either hand and it is pleasant to touch. I don't intend to use it in any protective case. It should be water resistant but I doubt I will ever try this feature. While you can turn pages using a touch sensitive screen, I prefer buttons. It reacts to the screen position and appropriately switches not only text orientation but also the function of the next and previous buttons. Also, it reacts to ambient light and changes backlight tint: to blue hue during day and to red at night. I am excited about how easy it is to insert a new book into memory. Just connect Kobo to the PC, you get the message 'Computer detected', click 'Connect' and you see KOBOeReader on your PC as a new device. Now you can place in the root directory desired book in many formats. It can't be easier! If you have many books it is advisable to divide them into Collections with names of your choice. The menu is simple to navigate and you can figure it out even without studying instructions. Overall I am very happy with my choice and indeed I would recommend the product.

Great Purchase
Bought this 10 months ago and still love it! Have only had to charge it 6 times, and I’m an avid reader. Personally don’t use the kobo book store so no opinion on that, but easy enough to add my own books to. Also connects with OneDrive/Libby for local library books too. Touch screen is not as fast as a phone, so opening settings is laggy, but once settings are set there really isn’t too much need to reopen them often. Have had kindles and nooks in the past, will definitely stick with Kobo. Straight forward dreaded without all the extra “fluff” and apps to drain battery or distract from reading.

D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read)
Feels flimsy at first, making me wonder why it’s so expensive. It is very light and easy to hold, though a slightly awkward shape, and it handled bike camping well. I got a “pop socket” to attach to the back of mine and appreciate it. Skip it if you want to spend a lot of time in the web browser. It’s excellent for reading though. The streamlined Overdrive is swell. And I can send my own docs. EDIT: returned to confirm after months of trial. Excellent reader. One issue is transporting it comfortably. I’ve got a small box that it fits in, but the offset edge and screen are crying out for protection every time I put it into a packed bag.

WiFi connectivity is iffy
I really love this reader, my first few days using it I was 100% satisfied with it. I had tried the kindle reader before and I returned it because I was not able to do anything except read Amazon books on it. The Kobo runs circles around the Kindle. I can not only purchase books, I can use Overdrive to connect to my local library, I can read articles saved to my pocket account, or load my .pdf books into it. The size is perfect and it is super light! Seriously, I thought it was the perfect device. But! in a matter of days I noticed that it was not connecting to my WiFi network, even though every other device in my house was connecting to the intenet, the Kobo was failing to find my network. I have read that Kobos only work with 2.4GHz networks. But my network is 2.4GHz and it did connect during the first few days! It is connecting now, it is still kind of flaky, I'm still troubleshooting, but this could potentially be a deal breaker.

My first foray into eReaders:Kobo Libra eReader. I'm loving the ability to check out library books.
So far I've nothing negative to say about this. While I've seen some 'complaints' that this model lacks audio book support, I appreciate that! I suspect that helps with the quite lenghty battery life. Things I like: - Ability to check out books from my (overdrive) library system. At the low low cost of ZERO dollars. - Ability to integrate 'pocket' stories with the ereader for more indepth reading. Shopping for and purchasing books can require close-reading of available listings. I almost purchased what I thought was a 'book' that I noticed in the checkout process, was a book analysis. - Seemed like a 'cliff-notes' thing for college students that didn't want to be bothered to actually read. Some books are available from more than one seller at different prices (different editions etc.) So shop carefully. One thing I don't like is the amount of email I'm getting from Kobo, and the marketing slant that seems to veer heavily into womans romance novels. - Not really my book type of choice! Perhaps as I read more it will present me with more books that are congruent with my preferences. Though that could be a plus for many customers! I'm also liking the size of the ereader, and the auto-adjustment it makes if you switch from hand to hand to use the page turning buttons. Nice UI there! The battery life seems great - I've been able to go over a week on a single charge. Though I suppose your mileage may vary. I'm not reading hours a day... Another nice touch: When in sleep mode, it displays the book cover of the last book you were ready. - Another detail that helps with the 'real' book feel experience.

Terrible quality.
Kobo products are low quality and unreliable. Don't trust them—you'll waste your money.

Next best thing to real paper book
Don't expect this to be a smart tablet; it's very, very slow if you compares it to any Android tablet or phone (and no, this is not even Android). This is the best e-reader. It is feather light on hand. It has no extra bell-and-whistles; it only focus on getting one single thing right: for intense long book read without straining your eyes. The auto adaptive lights (for both brightness and color temperature) is way better than others. Battery can easily last me for weeks between the recharges.

My first ereader
This is my first ereader, I’m glad I chose this version, it does everything I need it to. The charge lasts weeks, the warm light is great e-Ink is very clear. Super light (big points), travels well. I read alot of articles and large pdf documents that are much easier to read and take notes on instead of my phone. It was best purchase for this year

Sehr guter handlicher eReader
