Review: OEM case blowup. - Off line storage is a must in today’s world of espionage (scammers/ viruses). I am a fanatic about it. I loved the back up storage I had. But when suddenly, it failed, more simply:DIED,” I was devastated. All my files, holy poop - After doing a little digging and research on my own - knock knock at my door arrives Sabrent with its docking fan cooling fan device. A perfect fit made in computer-land. Installation was a breeze. Really all most plug-n-play. The drive couldn’t have been more compatible, it fit like it was made for each other. My offline hard-drive was back in business. So was I. Storage depends on what you plan on putting in it. Mine is 4TB. Its literally unplug, carry and plug into what ever you needs are. It is versatile. It is the speed of the drive you choose.
Review: Works well, Good Value - This Sabrent Docking Device was well-packed, arrived in a timely manner. Carefully went through the contents unpacking. It seemed to be well-constructed, though the top door seemed a little cheaply made even that was not bad - it was not too loose and it did open and close well. It came with its own power cord and also a data transfer cord. I had 2, 3TB hard drives which were unallocated; I set the first drive into the Sabrent and then slid the drive into place. (Inside the Sabrent there is a SATA connector into which the pin end of your drive will fit.) Next plugged in the power source, then the data transfer cable, and connected the USB end of the cable to my Win11 laptop. On top of the Sabrent there is a power button, which I pushed in (depressed) and the device came on, the drive started spinning up. The drive showed up in Device Manager, everything else was a snap to format the drive as an external. After safely ejecting, the next drive went in and process repeated. Because the drives each were 3TB they did become pretty warm but that is to be expected, and the nice thing about this Sabrent is it has a cooling fan which really helped, so neither drive got overly warm. An important note, one of my drives is older and a regular SATA, the other was a little newer and SATA III, but this Sabrent can handle all the SATA versions as it is forwards and backwards compatible. The speed you get will be determined by the type of SATA your drive has (and what standard the USB port used to connect the docking bay to your main device is - 2.0, 3.0, etc.). The Sabrent can also be used to connect any allocated, formatted SATA drive to transfer data to/from and use as a regular external drive. I have not yet tried its other capability, drive cloning, but it does include free software for that and I hopefully will be trying it out soon. In the past, other (different) Sabrent devices I have had were good quality and lasted quite awhile, so hopefully in the long run this Sabrent Docking Device will not disappoint. In short, so far this Sabrent has worked like a champ, and seems to be worth the money. Would recommend and definitely buy again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: For model with cooling fan, is operation temperature controlled? Does it turn on/off or change speed based on temperature or is it a fixed-speed fan?**
A: All 3 answers are wrong. Maybe Ahkenatonia's fan was busted. This is the behavior. It is always just 1 speed. Whether the drive is at room temperature, or showing 65 Celsius thru SMART querying software. JUST 1 SPEED.
The fan is off until it detects a USB connection and also keeps power to the drive off until it detects a USB connection.
The fan reduces temps by a few degrees, nothing drastic. It is quiet and low RPM.

**Q: What is the power suppy input ? does it support 110-240 V?**
A: The power supply input is 100-240 volts AC, output is 12 volts DC (2000 mA).

**Q: If I velcroed this to the bottom of my desk upside down (because of the button) would it be secure? In other words if its upside down willit open**
A: The dock will open unless you fasten the hinged part, too. Even then, I wouldn't recommend hanging it upside down. There hard drive is not secured into the plastic.

**Q: Since the version of this w/o the cooling fan states that it is compatible with windows 10 and this one does not state that my question is : Is it?**
A: 100% compatible with Windows 10. I have already used it to format drives, create and store back ups.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple and does what it's supposed to
*by M***E on August 24, 2026*

Working good so far, my only complaint with the dock is the placement of the power button. It should have been put on the side of the dock next to the cable connections, but instead they put it on top of the dock. This is great for easy access, but it also means there's easy access to turn it OFF when you may not intend to. Say for example something lands on it and hits the button, or you're poking around the area of the dock and you accidentally bump it. This isn't good for your data integrity and could cause problems. I cut off the plastic bottom of a medicine bottle and attached it with double-sided tape to the top of the dock over the button so that the button cannot be pressed without removing the cover. Other than this, I like the dock so far and performance is what it should be. I have a WD Purple 4TB HDD installed in the dock, reported temperatures sit around 34C in a room that is around 24C. The room gets as high as 28C on hot days, and at those times the disk temperature gets up to about 37C. I don't notice fan noise from the dock, but I am using this in my small office which has other small fans running. None of it is noisy, but there is a low-level constant white noise in the room already.
