Review: Great swimsuit - This is a great swimsuit. It is well built and is not thin material. BUT go up 2-3 sizes from what you think you need. Speedo builds their suits for true swimmers who do it everyday, and I am sure they need them to be tight. But for the average swimmer like me, they fit a little tight. I am a 33ish waist, the size 36 fits a little tight on me, not so tight where I can't wear them, but tight enough where I don't even use the drawstring. I kind of like it like that. Hope this helps!

**Q: What does the size refer to? i ordered size 34, and what arrived was 28 inches (i measured). so what do i need to order so i get 34 inches?**
A: Well, a 34 won't measure 17 inches across waist. It stretches to 34. Supposedly.

**Q: Hiw much of a stretch do they have**
A: The Speedo 70800 is very stretchy and fits very snug, just the way they are supposed to. I ordered a 32" waist and that fits fine for me. If you are swimming competitively you may want to order a size smaller.  They will stretch more with use.

**Q: How many inches on the side of swimsuit**
A: Maybe 3 inches.  I am moving residences and my Speedo’s are in storage so estimating only

**Q: I am about 5 foot 9 or 6 and i order a size 30 is that ok for me?**
A: 5 foot 9 or 6, you don't need a swimsuit, you need training on a ruler.  Size is relative to your waist size.  30 inch underpants equals 30 inch waist equals 30 inch size.  You can't be a real person.

This is a great swimsuit. It is well built and is not thin material. BUT go up 2-3 sizes from what you think you need. I have a stocky build. I've been wearing Speedos through the late 60's early 70's for racing and then later in the 70's playing water polo in university. Along the way Speedos instead of beach trunks were normal pool wear while lifeguarding. I still swim to keep my cardio up for other athletic activies and maintain mobility, and I'm still picky about swim suits intended to be primarily worn in the water swimming laps. I can't quite find a suit withthe fit of those suits back in the day any longer, but the cut of this suit will do. It is a bit more skin tight/compression than I prefer, but it will work for me at least. While it doesn't say it in the description (it should) this Speedo has a 3" wide side panel. I am normally a 36"/37" belt size in casual pants. I had to upsize to size 40 for this suit to fit comfortably, and it is still a bit too tight in the legs. I don't think you would need to have a stocky build to need to upsize above your normal pants size. If you have above average quads and glutes, whatever your build or belt size, you may also need to go up a size to avoid finding the legs are too tight. If how your pool suit looks when out of the water is important to you, this emerald blue is nice. I have no idea whether or not it is flattering from a fashion standpoint - I assume the primary purpose of buying a suit like this is to be in the pool swimming, not lounging on the deck. So far, next time I might look for something from Tyr or Arena, but I wouldn't mind buying this model of Speedo again. The reason I docked it one star is I don't think the sizing is true for North American men and it is just a little bit too tight through the legs and the body of the suit.
