Solved My Canon Mini Advanced Shoe Problem
I have an Audio Technica wireless mic receiver that I wanted to mount to the top of my Canon camcorder, but of course the Canon Mini Advanced shoe was too small to accept the Audio Technica standard shoe mount. This adapter works beautifully for that purpose. It snaps securely into place on the Canon but can be removed easily by pressing a tab to release. The main body is made of plastic - only the universal shoe at the top is metal. Don't put anything of significant weight on it such as a lighting accessory, and don't subject it to a lot of sideways pressure. The Audio Technica receiver is very lightweight, so for my application it should work well. Certainly worth the money. Note that this is a cold shoe; there are no electrical connections carried to the universal shoe on the adapter. I love my Canon, but shame on Canon for thinking they needed to use a proprietary size for their shoe. Just a ploy to try to make you purchase Canon accessories.

Works on my Canon G20 VixiaHF G20
Just arrived haven't had this in the field yet. But I had trouble knowing if this would fit my Canon Vixia HF G20. Because I'm new to the camera world and don't know all the lingo yet. This fits very tight to my G20 mini hot shoe. It has small locking pin that is spring loaded. It dose not transfer any signals from external device to camera. Which is ok with me. My external mic has stereo mini plug. Just holding the adapter I can hold the weight of camera and wiggle around even upside down. Very little play and no damage to the G20 hot shoe pins.

EzFoto works but.....
The reason I bought the EZFoto adapter was that my current external microphones, LED lights, etc. do not fit on the Mini Advanced Shoe on my new Canon M-500 camcorder. It was an unexpected surprise when I found that out. I bought the M-500 for two reasons: 1) It downloads directly to iMovie on my Apple Macintosh setup without the need for a formatting program. 2) It was the only camcorder in the +- $500 price range that offered a hot shoe and advertised that feature. The EzFoto does the job, easy to mount and dismount with the little connect and release tab on the side. I was disappointed in the fact that it now becomes a cold shoe. There is no electrical connection from the Mini Advanced Shoe so my external microphone needs to be plugged into the mic jack on the camcorder side. This is OK for my Rode Mic which has an short mic jack cable but not for my older Canon mic that runs only from the universal hot shoe. Canon's solution, buy their new microphones designed for the Mine Advanced Shoe. My other concern is that it is very small and cheap. It can easily get misplaced. I suggest other users to find a small clear plastic bottle or mini case to hold it. I rated it 4 stars because it does the job. Norm

Great product!
This does exactly what I need it to do; it's perfect for mounting my Azden ECZ-990 mic on top of my Cannon Vixia HF M301. It seems to be very stable, and the plastic looks sturdy; it doesn't feel cheaply made at all. Do note that it is a hot shoe to cold shoe converter. Honestly, I'm not sure if there's such a thing as a mini advanced hot shoe to universal hot shoe converter, but if so, this isn't it (I'm not even entirely sure there's such a thing as a universal "hot" shoe for camcorders). However, if all you want to do is mount a non-proprietary external mic, this is probably exactly what you need. The Azden I have runs on its own AAA battery, a hot shoe wouldn't do anything for it.

Works Well and as Expected
This works very well with my Canon HF-M500 camcorder and I can attach my Rode Microphone to it. It slides into the Canon hot shoe adapter easily and stays put. The construction is solid enough that I am not worried about it not lasting. No reason to spend a lot for something like this as it just needs to be simple and do the job. This does what I need it to do without any hassle. Great little product if you have a Canon camcorder and want to attach a non Canon microphone to it.

Sufficient solution to a bad design
It's unfortunate that Canon decided to use their proprietary "mini Advanced Shoe" instead of a standard shoe on their consumer camcorders. Oh well. This adapter provides an inexpensive solution to Canon's bad design choice. The EzFoto adapter is a cheap piece of plastic that will most likely fracture if put under much stress, but for what it costs I don't know that a lot should be expected. It allows me to mount a shock-mount and shotgun microphone on the stupid "advanced" shoe and that is good enough for me. I was cat-sitting a friends cat and when I left it sitting on the couch the cat seemed to enjoy batting it around. So an unexpected additional feature is that it makes a good cat toy. So if it breaks just give it to your cat.

A Simple Solution To A Complex Probblem
I wonder why Canon came up with the mini S shoe. I have a couple of microphones - A RODE and a Sennheiser - that won't take the mini shoe. Well, a classic bad design has been rectified with a simple, elegant solution. Functionality: First grade. Fits perfectly on the S-shoe as well as the standard shoe mount of the microphone . Love the "release catch" - a nice touch. Reliability: Remains to be seen, but the construction looks good for the price Price: This is probably the lowest price point you are going to get Delivery: Prompt!

Does the job just right!
This part fits just right into the mini hot shoe of the Canon Vixia HF S20.... it has a little lever which locks it in place, good to go, it's built really sturdy although the base is made out of plastic so you don't want to overload it, but it will hold a mic, or light, or mic and light on V adapter....no problem.

Fits the proprietary Canon shoe and allows use of items using a standard hot/cold shoe. Nothing special, it just does the job.

This adapter performs very well. It is sturdy and has a lock to prevent it from sliding out of the original hot shoe. The quality if very good. I recommend it!
