ShillCat Bake Element for Viking Range, PJ010004.

Short story: great item and I would buy it again. Long story: I got this to replace the original bake element in my 20-year old Viking Professional wall oven. Here are some observations. First, this item is a great value - Viking labeled elements can cost over $300. Second, it appears to be exactly like the OEM element and was a perfect fit. Installation is simple but be careful that the wires don't slip back into the body of the oven as you pull the old element out. If that happens, go in through the fan area on the back wall to find the wire. Third, this one seems to heat up faster than the original, which was ridiculously slow. Finally, other reviewers have noted a problem with packaging. I had no issues. This one came in a flat box with no padding but box and element were intact. Hope this information is helpful.

Exactly what we needed for our 10+ year old Viking range. The element caught fire spontaneously one day while baking, and fortunately I was in the kitchen to turn off the oven when it started. I wasn't overly surprised since my parents had already had to replace theirs several years ago. This one was relatively easy to install, my Dad did it since he'd done theirs already, and it's been working just fine ever since. The only quirk is that sometimes it overheats at a given setting. For example, when the oven is set to 350 and it comes to temperature, the in-over thermometer reads 375, but I'm just going to assume that it's working just a bit too well. My mother said theirs did that initially after it was installed too, so the simple work-around is to have an oven rack thermometer, and that works just fine. Oh, and this arrived in the box with no additional packaging or cushioning, it was just the element as it's shown in the picture (with the ceramic feet). Anyway, it was definitely worth the money and buying it online saved us the trouble of having to special order it from a parts store that would have charged us more. It took a few days to come in, but again, no big deal (since it wasn't the holidays anyway). Seems to work fine, hopefully it will last us another 10+ years.

EXTREMELY IMPRESSED WITH THIS VENDOR. The bake (bottom) electric element showed up surprisingly quickly. I replaced the burnt-out one and my oven's baking function appears to be working perfectly. I'm just glad that I've collected a lot of tools over the years. I needed to use a small screwdriver to work loose the oven's connectors from the old element flat pins, were a bit snug after 15 years. I then had to use a small screwdrivers-type handle that had a rachet end that let me put a small socket that fit the awkwardly-positioned sheet metal screws that attach the element to the oven interior. Connectors easily attached to the new element's flat pins and I was eventually able to re-insert and tighten the sheet metal screws to anchor the assembly, though I had my head in the oven for quite a lot time trying to get the right angle and deal with the two tiny screws.

I was skeptical this would not work in my Viking oven, but it fits and works perfectly.My only issue is that it's not padded when shipped and during the initial attempt to install the element, it did not work. I was concerned it was damaged and I would have to return the product. We uninstalled it and test it with a multimeter and determined it was working. The electrician realized the wires were disconnected from the element and once he made the connections it worked as expected. Hopefully, the vendor will consider securing the element more when packing and shipping to avoid any possible damage.I'm very So happy with my purchase and would highly recommend.

I bought this element for our Viking wall oven, which would no longer heat up for baking. I read online that when the broil element is working (ours was), the most likely cause was a defective bottom (bake) element. As this one was not expensive, I bought it and replaced the existing one with it. I should note that it appeared identical to the OEM element. It was a simple installation. Unfortunately, it did not fix my problem The next most likely causes were said to be a bad relay or thermostat/probe. So I called a local appliance repair service. That is not as easy as it sounds; apparently many appliance repair services won't work on Viking stuff. The guy who came out said it was because they are very complicated. He was able to find a bad relay. Unfortunately, the bad relay was soldered to a circuit board, which was a $300 part. But he got the circuit board, installed it, and everything works now, including this new element. I left the new one installed because the oven is 9 years old and the original element was likely near the end of its life span.

I’ve ordered two of these, one previously. Both arrived in crushed packaging. This second one is bent, and the flange that attaches the element to the back wall of the oven had attachment tabs for mounting bent over. I’ve tried to straighten it out. Maybe it will work when installed. It might be safer to order from the manufacturer.

I took a leap of faith and purchased this element with no clue if it was legit or not. I didn't want to pay the $200-$300 for a new Viking element. This price seemed too good to be true, but too tempting to pass up.I'm glad I took the leap!Arrived in great condition, fast (arrived a few days early), and works great. My Viking stove has never worked better.Install was super easy and straight forward. (Just make sure to cut the power to your stove before install!)
