Perfect size & solid
For the price this lock box is a great deal. Size was perfect and fits most products. Quality felt really solid because I did drop of after removing from my trunk by accident and it held up well with only. Few scratches. The job was very easy to open with r two set of keys that it came with. Overall great product!

Cheap, simple, works great
Cheap, works great, fits most of my handguns up to and including a full-size 1911, although it won't quite fit a 4" barrel Smith & Wesson Model 66 (needs to be about 1/4" longer). I prefer this over those silly combination-lock models because I can open/close this easily in the dark, which is very handy at night when you don't want to be digging out a flashlight and making it obvious to everyone looking in your car to see you're either putting away or taking out a handgun. (Anti-gun fanatics and people with irrational fears of weapons (hoplophobes) tend to be easily freaked out by such things and may call 9-1-1 on you in such a case. Hey, it's silly, but it DOES happen.) Even if you don't carry a gun, this safe also works great for locking up valuables that you don't want to bring into a place because they might get stolen - wallets, jewelry, cell phones, etc. THIS IS NOT THEFT-PROOF. Nothing truly is. But unless a thief knows well enough in advance to bring along a tool to cut the steel cable or pry the thing open - and as long as you're smart enough to loop the cable around something sturdy - this will definitely deter and defeat 99% of thieves. I keep one key to this inside the safe itself when it's not in use, and the other stays at home in case the other gets lost or broken. Be aware that if you lose or break the key, the cost to order a replacement key from the company is more than the whole safe is even worth and it's a big hassle, so at that point you may as well just buy a new one. TOTALLY worth the purchase. I have one in each of my vehicles, and you can also mount these things in your home as affordable and compact hideaway safes for valuables and such - either use the included steel cable to loop it around something, or just bolt it right down.

Very happy so far.
I bought the smallest size box to transport my Glock 20 on a planned flight to Florida. I have a neighbor who is a TSA agent and was able to show him this box after it arrived and he seemed to think it would be ok for that purpose (my other option was the OEM box and he frowned at it without offering much comment other than that it was iffy at best and would be difficult to lock up; he's not much of a talker). This size box holds the full size 10mm just fine with room for a spare mag (I don't plan on taking a spare mag but it should work). So pretty much any size glock should fit into the smallest box if the big G20 can fit (I'm not sure some of the long slide Glocks would fit; see pictures for how cozy the G20 is). Some of the complaints I've noted on here are worth discussing; the cable that came with it appears to be thicker than the picture here on Amazon. It's pretty heavy, well coated and the crumpet on the loop is well protected with a heavy boot as well. I think it will meet my needs just fine and don't feel I need a heavier cable. The box itself is pretty sturdy, no flex at all and the piano hinge is slightly recessed into the box which would make removing the pin on the hinge at least a bit more difficult. Inside there's 2 layers of foam. I can just barely get it closed with all the foam in it with my G20, removing 1 layer made it easier to close, and the glock still doesn't slide around once closed. The keys do indeed seem flimsy as the attach point is just plastic. I'm going to take the key to a local hardware store to see if they can make an all metal copy so the head doesn't break off. Overal very pleased with this purchase. Once I fly with it I'll come back for more comments.

Sturdy and secure.
I understood this to be similar to the Gunvault NV200, and with the lesser cost, decided to give this one a try. When I received it, I was immediately concerned because the clamshell packaging had popped open during transit. The safe was still seated within the packaging, and I was relieved to see that there didn't appear to be any damage to the item upon a quick inspection. On the plus side, the clamshell packaging is easy to pop open without the use of a knife or scissors. I tested each of the keys it came with and the lock seemed to perform smoothly. When closed, there was no "play" with either the lock or the hinge. Taking it home, it fit my S&W M&P Shield .40 perfectly, with an extra magazine. I was worried at first that my Sig Sauer P229r .40 would not fit, due to it being a rather thick gun, but I was able to close and lock it shut easily, also with an extra magazine. I also didn't notice any peculiar smell that some others have complained about with other, similar safes. This does what it needs to do and the price doesn't make my wallet dry heave. My only concern with it is that the cable that it comes with looks to be a little on the anemic side. I haven't tried to test cut it, but I'd feel much more secure if the cable was a bit more robust. I have an old laptop security cord that I may swap the original cord with. Unless someone has any fairly heavy duty cable cutters with them, this should help prevent loss from a simple and quick vehicle smash and grab. Considering the price. there isn't much I can complain about and I'm very inclined to purchase a second one now that I've confirmed what it will fit. *Edit: Also will acommodate a Walther PPQ 4.2" w/extra magazine, Ruger SP101 4.2", or SP101 3" with extra speed strips.

Love this lockbox.
I bought this with the intention of using it to lock up my M&P Shield at home from my 3 year old son, and also to use in the future when traveling on an airline. The construction of this item is SOLID. I'm confident that there is no way my son could pry, smash, or MacGyver his way into this lockbox. It has decent weight to it which makes me think the material used is sufficient. The locking mechanism is smooth and both keys work no problem. The cable included with mine was the one wrapped in black plastic. It seems hefty enough to stop smash and grab thieves if used in your car. Since i'm planning on using it with my M&P Shield, i was going to place it horizontally aling the long axis of the lockbox when traveling on an airline. To my delight, it actually gmfits along the short axis as well, allowing me to fit multiple mags or a box of ammo into the lockbox, for those airlines thst require the ammo to be in an original box (i'm planning on putting my ammo in a Magtech 9mm 50rd box). There are 4 sheets of foam that come inside the lockbox to cushion belonging. The Shield will fit fine with the 4 sheets, though very snug (its not moving around in there when locked). Perhaps i will remove one sheet, who knows. Overall i am highly satisfied with this lockbox. If you need something to store yoir firearm away from the kiddies hands, dont hesitate, this will be more than adequate. There isn't a prefabricated way to mount this lockbox to any furniture but you can probably drills holes into it to use as mounting points.

Very impressed with this Lockbox
This case in nice. Very thick steel and pretty decent lock. One person complained that padding was not thick enough to hold gun in place. I found this true IF you shake the box some. For a really thin gun this may be worse. My fix was to simply cut the end flap off of the box Amazon shipped it in and cut it down to fit under the foam. No more movement. For placing a 380 ammo box in the box this is ok, for longer cartridges I would cut out that cardboard where the ammo would sit or even the foam if need be to put the ammo box inside. I'n not going to leave the ammo in the magazine as some TSA agents or airline people may not know that leaving it in the mag is ok. Fighting that detail is just not worth it when trying to make a flight. In short, I was really impressed with this lockbox. I only plan to use it in checked baggage when flying and this is extremely compliant with current TSA regulations. Lock works extremely smooth. You can't really go wrong with this box for simplicity and function. It is strong. 5/17/2016 Just received my second one. Fit is perfect and locks work flawlessly.

Decent for the right purposes
This is not going to stop anyone who's really intent on getting inside. But it'll slow down someone enough so that this won't be taken in a quick smash and grab robbery. It makes a good safe to keep under a car seat to hold valuables when you leave the car with a valet or something like that. Yes, a valet or someone like that could force it open, but then he'd have to explain why the safe was clearly forced open. For the valet who just has nosey fingers looking for things that aren't well hidden, this will keep your stuff safe. The cable is strong enough to keep the safe from walking away quickly. It's also thin enough to slide under a car seat easily and stay out of sight. I often go into places where I can't take my phone with me. I like knowing that if someone breaks into my car that my phone can be secured in this so I'm not completely screwed. I think it would take a minute to break the cable or lock unless someone breaks into the car with tools in hand. (But if someone's prepared to break into a lock box with tools, even a hundred dollar safe isn't going to stop them.) A smash and grab car thief is looking for loose change in the cup holder or things like that where they can get in and get away in 20-30 seconds before anyone notices they aren't supposed to be there. They typically aren't going to hang around strong arming a safe cable for a minute or more, drawing attention to themselves. I also think it would work just fine for keeping the kids in your house away from a pistol. (Especially when combined with hiding it out of reach of kids) You could bust the lock with a screwdriver and force, but not without breaking the lock and making it obvious the case had been forced open. If you are worried about a small child stumbling on the case and just being curious what's in it, it will keep them out securely and effectively. If you are worried about someone (kid or otherwise) who is willing to steal from you, you will want to get a more secure safe for a hand gun. As for sizing with a pistol, it fits a full size 1911 perfectly with room for at least 1 magazine. It's not a roomy fit, but it fits. If you're looking for the smallest secure case possible for a full size 1911, this is the one.

A sturdy box that suits my needs.
I like the size and quality of this box. It fits pistols the size of my Government model .45, my full-sized S&W M&P .40, and my compact 9mm without any problems. (One each of the pistols, of course, not all at once). I like other reviewers also question the quality of the security cable and will likely replace the included one with a stronger one. However, for now, I've wrapped the cable around the seat frame of my car and doubled both end loops back into the box through the slot that's made to retain the cable. This shortened the overall length of the cable, but gives me enough slack to pull the box out enough to access the pistol. The box is well concealed under the seat and someone would have to spend a bit of time searching the car to find it. I doubt that a determined thief would be deterred by my setup, but a typical idiot "break-in" thief would have to have a cutting tool to free my box. I think that this box is a great deal for the price.
