I bought my 1TB T7 as a external boot up drive for a Mac Mini with a failing hard drive. It took a long time to copy everything from the hard drive and ran very hot. I tested the speed early on and then after fully setting up as the boot drive. The read speed is fine but the write speed has reduced from over 300Mb/s to about 50 (using a standard USB-3). In spite of that my Mac is working infinitely better than it was. You will find useful advice on forums like MacRumors, where views are split as to whether the slow write speed matters or not. Compact and light, with great security!! *by A***K on 19 October 2020* Fantastic device. Small and light, so very portable. Very quick and quiet when in use so great for adding extra storage. Fingerprint sensor is great to have, but you pay a price premium for this feature versus other SSD. I had some issues with the drivers for my mac, the driver installed with the T7 didn't work so the software didn't recognise the drive when connected. Fixed this by downloading the latest driver from Samsung, and you can find a video on YouTube showing the step by step instructions.
