I believe this is due to the amount of dye used to produce the fabric. I will say that the silver and gold paint used in the print is of a high quality, mine arrived with fringe being very even. Due to folding for storage and shipping, the way that I removed the fold-creases was to place it unfolded under some heavy books and that worked fine. I am sure over time it will soften with use. I love the Triple Moon symbol combined with the Celtic Knot artwork used on the print. My advice is let it soften on its own with use, do NOT machine wash. If you must wash I would advise using only warm water and hand wash in the sink but even then I feel this would cause fading and a very BLACK water pool in your sink!
