much better. I found this book nearly useless
Basic information for the use of this expensive software missing. Non-archicad youtube videos are much, much better. I found this book nearly useless.

Helpful but Confusing
I bought this book because of the 5 star rating. So far, I'm about a 1/3 through it and I'm greatly disappointed with all the gaps, and what appear to be outdated ArchiCAD release references for various menus and tasks. The whole book is set up to be a process and procedures learning guide, but when you hit a gap, or find an outdated menu, or something, you're left with finding the solution yourself. Although, in some ways, this is good, because you discover other things in your search, but, it distracts greatly from learning the important process and procedures. I've spent significantly more time discovering and looking for answers to fill the gaps, than actually following the book's procedures. This is disappointing because it greatly flattens the learning curve. Many times, I find myself in U-Tube search for the answers. So, I've found this book to be helpful, but confusing. With all my notes, it will probably be most helpful for me to go back and start over after each building exercise to better learn the process and procedures without interruption. However, that's not what I bought the book for. Finally, it's important to note that this book is more a process and procedures book rather than a quick reference book. If that's what you're looking for be prepared to spend some time working up to a solution.

Good reference for Archicad users
The usage of BIM in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector has been increasing rapidly. The concept of BIM contains the formation and the usage of the design, construction and management knowledge of buildings. The computational model of BIM forms an environment that is serving the various disciplines of the design process to work together.ArchiCAD is one of the best BIM software. It has been using all around the World since 1980’s. However, there is no enough publication on ArchiCAD. This book closes English publication missing on the market. Those who want to learn ArchiCAD and to create BIM model with ArchiCAD can benefit from the book. The book also includes the preparation of documentation with ArchiCAD. It gives enough information to the reader on the subject of "scheduling" and "listing". ArchiCAD uses a new render motor called CineRender from 18th. version. The features of CineRender can also be found in the book.I believe this book offers something new to the market with its good format and understandable content.

IMPERIAL units and based on the US version of the software!
I've barely started the book, but there are already some glaring issues with how the material is presented. The greatest problem is the fact that the books seems to have been written exclusively for American readers, which is inconvenient for readers outside of US. This means that the book uses only the IMPERIAL UNITS and measurements, and does not provide any conversion for the other 95% of humans around the world. I was NOT aware of this when buying the book, since it's not mentioned anywhere, and I assumed metric units would be used, since the book was sold to me on Amazon UK.Also, it based on the US version of the software, which is in many ways different from the international version, in a sense that it comes with many different presets. For example, I had to do a google search to figure out what 'EIFS on 8" CMU' was, because it was a wall composite not available in the international version.... It turned out to be a simple insulated concrete wall.
