Sharpie pen in a steel case, with a truly fine-point tip... finally!
Found this Sharpie Stainless Steel Pen Grip Fine Point Black Ink Pen (1800702) when I came online to order refills for another Sharpie product. I'm glad that I took a second look and then took a chance ordering it, as this newer product offers some of the features that I've had to go elsewhere to find. In a short time, this one has become my favorite among their products. it has a very smooth and businesslike appearance, and is quite comfortable in the hand when you're using it. Likes: + Brushed stainless steel body; very professional in appearance + Fine point delivers clean and concise lines; permanent ink + Ink doesn't bleed through paper; truly smear-resistant + Rubberized soft grip; comfortable when writing + Refillable; cartridges are available online here + A true fine-tip pen and not a marker + Excellent value for the price Dislikes: - Why are there no blue or red versions of this same stainless steel pen? Closer Look: I've owned a different, earlier version, for a few years now, the Sharpie Stainless Steel Fine Point Permanent Marker , and it's one that I reviewed. My main issue with that one was that as nice as it looked, it wasn't any more fine tip than one of the iconic Sharpie black permanent markers that we're all used to with their characteristic black caps and grey plastic barrels. The difference between the older one and this newer one is simple: the older version is a marker, and this newer one is a true fine-point pen. This newer pen has some other improvements over the older marker. Both ends are marked with a subtle black tip, which is useful if you have it in a briefcase, courier bag or (as in my case) a camera bag and you need to identify it by ink color quickly. The cap snaps on firmly when stowing it away to help prevent the ink from drying, and when in use it stows easily on the barrel. In addition, the Sharpie Stainless Steel Pen Grip Fine Point Pen Black Ink Refills are readily available here, which after scrounging around trying to find similar refills in the local office supply chain is a pleasant relief. Summary: This Sharpie Pen seems to combine that bold, smooth, expressive writing experience of a Sharpie permanent marker with the performance of a fine tip pen that doesn't bleed through paper. Its fine point delivers clean, concise lines that are both permanent and smear-resistant. The brushed stainless steel body has a solid, professional appearance, the overall feel is well balanced, and the soft grip adds to a very comfortable feel while writing. As this has become my new fine-point general purpose favorite, can comfortable say that it's worthy of a 5-star recommendation, especially for the price. 7/24/2012

Only pen I'll use!
I wish Sharpie would bring these pens back into their standard production. These fine point pens are the only thing I will use for work, school, life, etc. They write so smoothly, don't bleed through the page, and last a long time. I tend to purchase these in bulk because I never want to run out!.

Easy to hold!
Perfect and the writing doesn’t run. I keep one by my fridge so I can mark bags with dates and times and of course what’s inside!

Love these
Second or third time ordering the pen (family keeps taking them:). Writes great, looks good. Non-smearing. Sturdy tip. Will buy again and again. Love Sharpie pens.

Excellent pen!
These have a smooth and clean ink flow on multiple surfaces. They last forever as long as you don't drop the cap.😞 Great purchase!

Great pen and waterproof
I have been using the Pilot G-7 series pens for years, in both the .5 and .7 mm boldness sizes. I prefer the .7 but use the .5 when the former seems a little too bold, for instance in writing small notes on stationery. Both flatter my handwriting (seriously), which looks kinda average with just any ol' pen but interesting and also very legible with the Pilot pens. I have trouble occasionally with the Pilot pens, in that the ink smears when damp. This happens, for instance, in my grocery list from dampness in the produce department and on addressed envelopes if it is drizzling on my way to the mail box. This particular Sharpie pen solves that problem! It is waterproof. This particular style doesn't bleed through paper, either (maybe it does ever so slightly, if you get heavy-handed or your paper is thin). And it looks almost as good on paper as the Pilot pens, maybe just not quite as dark--but very close. By the way, the boldness factor of this Sharpie is more similar to the .7 than the .5, I think. PS - I just thought of another bonus: this ink from this pen dries quickly, so you are less likely to smear it with your hand after writing something, like I tend to do. Probably nice for lefties for that reason.

The only pen I carry with me.
The look of this pen gives it 5 stars already. Solid click when you pop off and put on the cap. Stainless steel feels high quality. The weight of the pen is perfect. The feel of writing with this pen minuses 1 star. I guess I just don't like the feel of writing with a marker on paper. It's the friction. It doesn't glide. There's resistance every time I touch the tip of this pen to a piece of paper. I don't like it. I use it primarily just to sign receipts now, because it does glide on receipt paper. Your mileage will vary, this is really just a personal preference. I bought the pen based on looks, knowing already that I wouldn't like the marker on paper feel. Other things that may be on your mind: It doesn't "bleed" through the thinnest of paper, but with the thinest possible paper you can find (i.e. cheap binder paper), you will be able to notice the black through the paper much more than if you wrote with a ballpoint, and about the same if not a tiny bit more than a gel pen. There is a *slight* slight slight outwards motion of the ink as it touches the paper. i.e. if you were to hold the tip on a piece of paper, you will see ink coming outwards from the point that is touching the paper, creating a big blot that you wouldn't be able to do with ballpoint for example. Otherwise, with regular writing speed, there is not much of this action happening.
