Beautiful colors, excellent blending, and a much better price than in art stores or the seller's website!
I stumbled onto Tombow brush pens while looking through Amazon's coupons, and I thought I'd give them a shot. These are a super cool super fun, and super blendable medium! The colors are so pretty and well pigmented, and you can easily produce a variety of colors with different blending techniques. Here's a quick list of other things I like about these watercolor markers:-There is absolutely no odor-I've noticed very little to no bleeding, but I'm guessing that varies based on the paper you use, since this is a wet medium-They dry quickly and I've had no problem with smudging-They're durable and so far I've had no fraying-They fine tip nib is a good size-The ink inside is pressurized, so you can store them upright or sideways with no worries about the ink collecting more in one end then the other-I am terrible with watercolor paints and colored pencils, but these are much easier for me and dry much, much quicker, which is good for my needs!-The cost is significantly lower here than from art retailers or Tombow. Normally the ten packs are around $40These markers are super fun, and I'm always learning about new techniques! In my experience, these work better on thicker paper, and I think a lot of people recommend watercolor paper. Regular paper tends to peel up a bit if you go over it too much, but if you just want to try these out and you don't have watercolor paper, they still do blend on sketchbook paper! I might upload some pictures after I pick up watercolor paper to compare the difference, but all in all this is a great purchase!Update- Watercolor paper definitely makes a big difference! The colors blend better, the paper holds up better, and you can create a lot of nice watercolor effects, like the background for the octopus. I got some of the colors by blending on another surface and then picking it up with a marker, but the colors you see were made only using the markers in the pack. For reference, I made the frog on a blank index card, which was much harder. It didn't blend as well and the paper peeled up a lot.I really, really love these markers!I hope this helps!

Great brand of scrapbook markers.
I love that they have dual brushes. Well a brush and fine point tip. That is my #1 reason for choosing this brand. I also like that they are water based and colors can be blended.

Great tools for exploring art
These pens are simply amazing! One end is like a marker pen and the other end a synthetic brush. No need to worry about getting paint brushes or palettes because these pens are a great substitute for watercolors. You can create gradients, shade two colors together, and also dabble with word design. Although some say the colors are limited, with their ability to mix and shade, really that isn't a big issue. Just use your creativity. On a side note, one thing to consider is the quality of paper you use for these pens. Thicker paper is recommended. I first used it on A4 paper and it begins to bleed after a lot of shading. Also, it would be a lot more handy if it came with an instruction manual for some ideas on how to use these pens. You can look to Youtube or other online resources for ideas; there are heaps of them.

My favorite brush pens hands down!
I watched so many tutorials and found out how many different brush pens are or there, I was overwhelmed! One of my mentors said NOT to go spend a bunch of money on pens before got even know of you're going to like this hobby. She was right.... but I did it anyway. My first large brush pens were the Tombow Dual-tips. They come in ALL KINDS OF COLORS! They aren't crazy expensive. Some are $18-20. Others are $22-26. Like i said, there's tons to try out before you find YOUR FAVORITES. Brush pens come in all sizes. My favorite medium brush pens are Pentel Touch. As for the smaller brush pens.. I've tried several and they're all great for different reasons. But Tombow Dual- Tip brush pens are just my favorite. Buy some and check them out. Using words is hard to describe how great you're going to feel that FIRST TIME YOU "GET IT". So you advanced lettering artists know what i mean. If happens with ANYTHING you are new at. In the beginning you'll struggle and be mad and sad and want to give up and try again and again. Then one day, you're going to draw that letter you've been struggling over and over again. And then one day you're going to put your pen to paper and that one letter is going to just flow out of your pen and you are going to KNOW HOW IT FELT to draw it properly. You'll feel over the moon happy! My triumphant moment came with the upper case "W". I was watching a tutorial video and i was struggling so much in my drills... and then BAM! IT HAPPENED!! I've been able to execute a perfect upper case "W" ever since. In golf or baseball you'll hear the term, "The Sweet Spot". That's when you obtain your "muscle memory". That's what ALL the instructors tell us to do... practice until you find your middle memory! It will come! If you stay true to your promise to practice... you will become as good, if not better than, your instructor! That's THEIR DREAM TOO. For you to become a good as you allow yourself to become!

Price:Quality can't be beat. Perfect start for a Tombow collection!
I bought these because a friend recommended Tombow pens for beginners people looking to learn hand lettering. The colours are vibrant but not garish. The brush tips are ridiculously satisfying to colour with, and the felt ends are firm and creates bold strokes. I use them to accent my notes but they would be amazing for adult colouring books (although I feel that would be a bit of a waste).Caveat for artists: Blending is just a wee bit of a challenge, because where the colours overlap it tends to darken. If you apply too many layers (more than two, honestly -- and I have really thick paper in my Nuuna journal), the paper is in danger of pilling. That said, I'm no artist but I figure that's something I'd want to know. I honestly would encourage you to buy them and try them out if you have the extra CAD$17 kicking around.Personal note: The palette is honestly not my favourite but I bought these because the price really can't be beat -- I got these on sale at about half off. Others in my life are ridiculously stoked on the colours, though -- my husband's bandmate promptly absconded with them in order to design their new album cover. I'm not too mad -- I've got my eye on the landscape palette set now...

As good as people say
This is the 3rd type of brush pen I've tried, after reading many reviews of many products, trying to decide which pens to buy. These are every bit as good as people say they are...they are obviously popular for a reason! The brush tips are not too flimsy and are fairly easy to control (with practice). I realize they're supposed to be "artist" quality and therefore do cost more, but I still wish they weren't so expensive... it would be nice if Tombow made the brush pens that didn't have the dual tips and could maybe cut the cost, because I really don't use the small tips at all, which is part of the reason I didn't buy these first. But overall, if you're using them for brush lettering, they're amazing.
