It is a little pricey, but worth it and a great way to get vitamins A and D. It's actually cheaper if you buy it by the 12 pack, too. **Q: Could you make a pate with these similar to chicken liver pate to serve with crackers? Looking for ways to eat besides plain.** A: I don't see why not...that would be great! I very much enjoy tuna fish so this is good for me! I make a little pate from it by mashing it up with a little avocado-mayo, cream cheese and some herbs & seasonings, like a touch of dill, garlic granules, celery seed and then spread it on a slice of sprouted toast/bread or a cracker with some slices of avocado...and voilΓ ...a tasty healthy little meal that is very high in omega-3 fatty oils and very filling! It is of course quite oily, so I set the pieces on a paper towel, but also do consume the oil for its health benefits. Quality product...was nice and fresh. Cans were intact...no dents or other problems. But just a word of CAUTION! Don't over consume cod livers...space out your consumption so you don't build up too much in your body. I was unaware of this possible vitamin toxicity and developed a rip-roaring headache due to the high Vitamin A and Vitamin D content that is naturally is present in all cod liver...The toxicity is referred to as "vitaminosis A and D"...it's a very real thing!
