FITS GOPRO HERO 8
If fits the GoPro Hero 8 PERFECTLY!!!! I've been looking for a gimbal adapter to use with my Zhiyun Smooth Q2 Mobile and finally found one. I've tried many other gimbals here on Amazon and no luck despite what the description says. If you have a Hero 8, and are looking for a gimbal adapter plate for mobile gimbals PICK THIS UP!! Definitely save you money from buying a separate gimbal for your GoPro.

Here 8 zhiyun gimbal, does not work is gopro is too heavy!
This is a good quality and sturdy plate, unfortunately the gopro is heavier that it so is just won't work with a zhiyun gimbal not a second gimbal that I have, if you have a different gimbal it will probably work but for me it didn't! So I'm returning it!

Fits the Hero 8, but not balanced the action camera is too far from center....
Waited patiently for a gimbal compatible frame that would accommodate the Hero 8. It fits great, but on Zyhun and DJI hand held 3 axis gimbals the camera is so far off the center line that the gimbals cannot accommodate the center of gravity.they need to add counter balance options or move the camera closer to center of adaptor.

Works well with Zhiyun Smooth-Q Gimbal
Balances my Hero 8 well on the Smooth-Q. Easy to install. It is specifically for the GoPro Hero 8

Nice fit but needs counter weights!
Fits my gopro hero 8 well. Nice tight fit. No risk of dropping... The reason it only gets 2 stars is because I still can not use it. For the price it should at least come with some counter weights. I’m unable to balance it with my smooth Q2 gimbal until I order some weights.

Don't buy. Period
I tried to ignore the negative reviews and told myself I can get anything to work if I try hard enough. Not this. Tried to get to work with a Osmo Mobile 3, and watched in horror as my gimbal struggled to stay upright. The weight distribution on this thing is terrible. Gimbal can't handle it. Save your money. Put it towards a gimbal that actually works with the Hero 8.

A passable product, poorly executed. If you read only one review, make it this one.
I read the reviews here so I knew I wasn't getting a fantastic product, but the descriptions of "it's too heavy" just didn't make sense. So here is the real deal.My iPhone in its case weighs 208g and the osmo handles it no problem. This weighs 110g, a hero7 black weighs 114g. Together and assembled, it's about 223g. The osmo mobile 2 is rated for about 240g.The issue is not weight, it's about *weight distribution* and balance! If you want to use this in "selfie" mode, you may be fine. You can balance left-to-right by having it snug against the base. But if you want to film outwards, the GoPro itself prevents you being able to tuck the plate against he base, and your left-right-balance is going to be off. (See the pictures) That will place undue stress on your gimbal motors and wear them out faster, or cause them to give up eventually.Furthermore, the gopro has a fish-eye wide angle lens, so if you are filming outwards, you're going to see the gimbal in the frame, and there's absolutely no fix for that. The osmo is just not designed to hold a gopro (they make their own stabilized gopro thingy, all in one).Other considerations, even if you are filming in selfie mode:The Osmo is designed to hold a phone, which is flat. This makes the front/back balance biased towards the back (when you are balancing your device, your phone hangs downward with the back-screw up in the air. If you put your gopro on this in selfie mode that's what happens. But to film outwards, it flips it over with the back-plate in the air. The motors aren't tuned for that, so it'll wear out faster. Added to this, but the fact that the gopro is much thicker than a phone, means the weight bias is significantly stronger towards the front or back, depending on if you have it in selfie or outward-filming. Again, strain on the motors, but that's the fault of the gopro being a big chunky nub and not a long thing flat thing.Other issues: the thumbscrews are exactly that "thumb screws", with no screwdriver bit in them. They are very tiny, and the threads are extremely tight. you will peel the skin off your fingers trying to wrench it down. You will need pliers, and risk stripping the grips on the screw head, or the threads on the screw itself. All told, you might have success with this if your batteries are good and your gimbals are strong, and you know what you are doing when you set it up and balance it. But if you're the least bit handy, you will do much better to make yourself something shorter and lighter out of wood that lets you keep the weight of the gopro much more centered, and let the camera lens sit flush against the holster and part of the gopro beind it, instead of having the entire gopro outboard of the holster. You might also consider letting your counter-balance offset the front/back weight distribution so the motors don't have to work as hard.

It was too heavy for my gimbal.
I bought a DJI Osmo 3 gimbal, and I wanted to try and use my GoPro Hero 3 in it. I could not balance it properly, the unit was just too heavy. Maybe another model would work better. Not sure.
