Less Than Zero (MathStart 3)

In one simple story, this book teaches in a clear way about owing money verses having money... AND saving money verses spending money AND graphs to show changes in amount over time. One of the best in the series.

The book was purchased for an autistic child who loves numbers but hates to read. He loves this book. There is a nice repeating story line in which the Penguin makes some poor spending choices and then has to 'dig himself out of the hole' in his accounting. He writes a chart that marks how much money he earns and spends. He overspends and faces not being able to buy a highly desired sled that all the other penguins have. He earns back 'clams' to get back up above zero on his chart. If your child prefers numbers to words, this book provides a safe reading experience with about 5-10 sentences of text for every two pages.

Love this book and so does my 6th grade class. This is a great intro into learning integers.

I read it to middle school students to help them understand negative and positive integers and graphing. They loved it.

This is such a good story for teaching negative numbers to children. I have been reading this to my second grade class the past few years.

Exactly what I wanted!Came on time. I would highly recommend this product and seller. The book was slightly bent so maybe next time more padding but no big deal

Our child was interested in starting to learn about negative numbers and we thought that a Mathematical Adventure would help. We bought this book and we created some additional material inspired in it (coins, a chart and some labels with prices). Our child loved it. We will use it again.
