That's the wrong side to hold an Oasis, which are designed to be held on the right side.** A: The funny thing is, I read reviews of another case that has the strap on the back on the opposite side, and there are complaints that it is on the wrong side. This cover has the strap on the correct side. It is on the same side as the buttons, so you can use it with one hand, either left or right. If you flip the Oasis over, the screen also flips, and the buttons functionality flips as well. **Q: Will the stand stay closed if you are using the strap (i.e. does it hang open)?** A: I have a case for a different model Kindle, but it's just like this one. The stand has a small magnet in it. The stand stays in place against the case unless you move it into position so it can be used as a stand. It's effortless to use. That, and the way it opens like a book, and puts the Kindle to sleep when you close it are one of the things I like best about the cover. Both are done with magnets that are strong enough to keep things where you put them, and are easy to move. **Q: Is this case slippery when you hold it?** A: No. Actually, the previous leatherette case I had was slippery plus it frayed badly on the edges. This case is sturdy, holds and handles well plus has the built in stand. I recommend this case. **Q: Is there any concern that the strap or stand would scratch the screen since obviously the whole interior is not "non-scratch microfiber"?** A: I originally worried about this too when I bought mine, but all of the interior that would touch the screen is soft enough it doesn’t scratch.
