Amazon Basics Straight Cut Aviation Tin Snips, Metal Cutters with Safety Latch

Had doubts this tool would perform up to those featured at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, etc.  But it arrived looking well-constructed, robust. Our first test was during install of our Google Nest doorbell, button of which had to be placed over vinyl siding. We had to surgically cut vinyl to clear top of doorbell cam/button. We were impressed by how this tool got its snout into the tight space and easily snipped vinyl. The compound leverage of the tool made cutting so easy-- right up to the tip of the snips! That's an important feature: it means that the tool will cut aluminum, sheet steel and other media without stress.

I purchased these Amazon Basics Straight Cut Aviation Snips for a rather unusual but necessary task: cutting up a metal credit card that my credit card company wouldn't take back for destruction. Regular scissors were completely ineffective, but these snips made quick work of the card, cutting through the thin metal effortlessly. The snips are very comfortable to hold in hand, and they felt sturdy and capable as I cut. The cuts were clean, and the blades are, as expected, very sharp. While I doubt I'll have frequent use for them, their durable feel suggests they would hold up well if I did. For the cheap price, these snips did exactly what I needed them to do. They're a great tool to have on hand for those unexpected jobs that require more cutting power than standard scissors.

Amazon basics has made some good products. I have cut multiple materials with them including sheet metal and it works great. Good size.

These snippers are great! Cut through all my hobbyist materials. Cuts up to 1/2 mm of aluminum sheeting, atleast that's what I used it for.

Pretty sturdily snips, easy to cut up 1/8 aluminum strips. On photo I cut 1/16 strips They fit comfortably in the hand and don't bend the metal when cutting. The blade was sharp right out of the box; I didn't have to tighten the bolt or sharpen the scissors. It says they are made of a chromium and vanadium alloy. I hope that's true. After use, I lubricated them with WD-40 just in case. They cut cleanly straight, without burrs. They're practically the same as Stanley snips, but cheaper, which is why I chose them.

I ordered these in a pinch while working on a custom coop for my backyard chicken flock. The compact size and blade length make them incredibly easy to maneuver, which really helped increase my speed and efficiency. ​They easily handle the wire, make clean straight cuts, and saved my hands a lot of fatigue during the build. I love the versatility of these snips for handling different types of wire and mesh, and they have a solid, professional appearance that holds up well. If you are doing any DIY coop building or wire fencing, I highly recommend keeping a pair of these in your toolbox!

Obviously heavy duty. So nice I immediately looked for other Amazon Basics tools that were similar, but alas, it seems to be unique.
