What is the difference between 60 and 90 weight?

90 weight thread is thinner than the 60 weight. 60 weight is good for machine stitching. 90 weight is better for quilting, embroidery and fine hand stitching.

Will your size L prewound bobbins work on an older machine that uses Class 66 bobbins?

IDK - I use in my 20 y/o Brother without problem - if your machine take the L size they should work.

I would not think so. I do not believe there prewound bobbins are available for the Singer Featherweight.
