Awsome kayak for the price
Great product. I purchased toward the end of summer for $94. So the the price does fluctuate with the season. Took me about 20min in set up the 1st time. About 15min for subsequent attempts. I've taken it out 3-4 times in the last 2 months. Collapses down small enough to fit in the trunk of a small car. The paddles work, but I felt were on the small side for me. This kayak is somewhat wide also. I ended up getting a 96inch paddle but i'm 5'10''. My 5 yr old daughter does ok with it. When I stretch out my legs, I have to tuck my feet to the sides of the front seat. The skin of the boat is reasonably strong. You'd have to scrape against some jagged metal or be hit head on by a hard pointy branch for this to puncture. For the boating itself, this craft is ok. It doesn't seem as smooth or can go as fast as a hard plastic boat. But that's fine considering it's $100-200 less. I even took it through some mild rapids (still choppy enough to splash me good) and it held up fine. The fin/skeg works fine and is easy to install but requires decent hand strength to remove (a good thing). It basically clicks in place and you have to push a tab down to remove it. I drilled a hole and put a fishing line through it in case the skeg falls off as suggested by others, but this is unnecessary. I even started heading away from shore once and the skeg, and only the skeg, hit an underwater boulder. I was going about 3mph when it hit and came to a dead stop, all 200+ lbs of the boat and people. The skeg edge was a little scratched but in place at the end. Maybe Intex updated the skeg after it 1st came out. I'm going to remove the fishing line before the next trip because it is unnecessary and gets seaweed, etc caught in it creating more drag. If you were to give me the choice (price not an issue) b/w a hard plastic boat and this, I'd pick the hard boat. That said, I'm very happy with this very inexpensive and easy to transport kayak.

Awesome surprise
My wife and I each have 17.5' Perception sea kayaks. We paddle a fair amount and they are great. But if you're not planning for strictly a paddle trip, big boats are kind of annoying to drive around with. Enter inflatables. We recently did a two week Baja trip and wanted the ability to paddle without the hassle of two large sea kayaks on the roof while driving dirt roads for hundreds of miles. Reading other reviews (and contrasting with the price) we figured this was worth a shot. So...this boat is a winner. We took it out several times on the Sea of Cortez. It handles swells surprisingly well, but don't expect to take on big rollers. It's a very stable boat; you can stand in it in flat water conditions. Pretty great for fishing, cruising, and day paddles. Overall, our experience was pretty great; I'm happy with the purchase. Note that it's a day cruiser, NOT a sea kayak...it has some drag, but it will get you there. The skeg stay attached reasonably well and is very needed if windy or in a current. As other reviewers suggested, a leash is probably a good idea for it. It easily has room for two people and day-paddling stuff (we're 5'11" and 5'6" and in good shape, typically bringing snacks, water, sun screen, camera/phone, hiking bags, bilge pump, boat pump, and some warm clothes just in case). You could probably do two people and an overnight's worth of stuff, but it will be pretty tightly packed. The paddles that come with it are adequate, but if you have quality paddles, bring them instead. Follow the inflation order on the boat (the ports are numbered 1, 2, 3, etc). The pump that comes with it makes short work of the inflating process. As other reviewers have mentioned, the floor valve should be Boston valve, like the two hulls are, but it's not. Whatever, not that big of a deal. Now the thing I didn't see mentioned a lot was packing it down and storage/transport. It'll pack down to about 30"x12"x18" (ish - and it's soft/flexible in a bag so those are only rough dimensions). Bring a rag to wipe it down with when you're done (sounds obvious, but I forgot). I found the easiest way to pack it up is to deflate in reverse order of the fill, then kinda flip the two large hull bladders to the other side of the floor. So kinda make it go inside-out, as if you wanted to make the bottom of the boat into the floor of the boat. This generally allows you to get all the air out and keep the deflate ports accessible. You can also then fold the boat (hotdog style) and start rolling it up. It'll pack down nice and small. Once packed down, the bag is a bit flimsy. I wouldn't try to hump it too far; seems like the bag is better to just store all the junk in the back of your vehicle. If you plant to hike the boat in, get a decent bag for it.

It actually surprised me .... consider it 4.5 Stars
This inflatable kayak actually surpassed my expectations. I definitely like it, a lot ... just not sure that I "love it" (5 stars). Truthfully, we've only used it once but we spent the better part of a day in it. The trip down the Blackwater River is documented on our YouTube channel as .... [...] and there is another video of our campsite with footage of me blowing up the kayak .... [...] The basic material is more durable than I imagined and its overall size is well suited for two normal adults. It easily blows up with an aftermarket 12vdc air pump (must use care however not to exceed the max pressure). Underway, it was not the least bit tippy and very stable in all calm water situations. I shot video and took photos all day without any difficulty. There is a small scag or fin that is meant to be inserted in a slot at the rear bottom. Since the water was quite low where we put in, I decided to leave this fin off, thinking it would strike the bottom. Bear in mind that we are total novices and this was our first experience ever, in any kind of a kayak and I thought this to be the reason we had so much difficulty making the kayak go where we wanted it to go. Finally, I decided to insert the fin and try it. Night and day difference ... suddenly the kayak became totally manageable and with no effort we were cruising along as if we knew what we were doing. I might add that my wife and I slightly exceeded the 250 lb load rating and the kayak didn't seem to mind at all. The paddles go together easily and have comfortable grips. The PR material says that they are longer than competitors paddles of comparable sized kayaks but found us wishing that they might have been just a bit longer. We were actually able to get it folded back up in the nice nylon storage bag the way it was (something I'm not often capable of) and it stores easily behind the seat in our truck. I'm not sure what the weight is since there are no specifications of any kind in the operator's guide but I'm guessing about 40 lbs. The only area I would deem to be deficient would be for storage. Not a lot there, but then again, maybe I have unrealistic expectations seeing as how little experience I have. All in all, it was a delightful day on the river and well worth the relatively small amount of money we paid compared to other units we found in our research. We weren't sure if we would like kayaking or not and didn't want to spend a lot of money only to find out it wasn't for us. Totally great investment. We're leaving for the Keys in two days and plan on using it quite a bit next week again.

Fast to inflate, high quality construction!
This yak came as expected. I didn't think the storage bag was terrible. I've inflatable it in the living, it's a full sized kayak! I thought the seat has you elevated pretty well. You can make room for small coolers and tackle boxes. I picked up an anchor package from Bass pro and plan on taking my 8 year old boy out for fishing in the morning. I'll be back to edit this review with how it goes on the maiden voyage! *Edit Once at the lake, the inflation recommendation didn't seem to be enough. Almost too squishy. I left it a quarter inch or less over inflated and we pushed off into sahuaro lake, Az. The kayak was loaded with two lunch coolers (small), soft sided tackle box and two fishing poles sans hooks. I learned very quickly the paddles are shorter than I would like. They did however get the job done. We left butcher jones beach and headed for a tributary. I found the wind pushing through the canyon made quick work of traveling out. We anchored and set hooks. 20 minutes without so much as a tug had us anchor up and moving out the way we came. Remember that wind? It definitely made the reverse voyage a chore. Keeping the yak nose in the wind proved difficult, but not impossible. This inflatable was pushed pretty easily by the gusts, but Al's recovered easily. My son wanted to swim, in the drink he went. After floundering around, he came back in the yellow inflatable viking vessel. Half the lake came with him. My 250 pound self generated quite the indent in the bottom. As a result, I had a pleasant pocket of lake water around my seat. Buy a hand held bilge pump if you can find one. (Must have) During our 6 hours on the water, everything I brought was wet. I knew better, should have had a dry bag for my phone keys and fishing license. I beached the inflated canoe/kayak and felt like we lost some air in the seats and bottom. No big deal, it wasn't much. The seats started out strong and as I got more tired and lazy, their weaknesses were exposed. (Still good quality, just lacked lasting support). I removed the fishing gear and bags, brought the yellow hot dog bun out to deeper water and attempted to board the vessel like a pirate from the water. It held up! While I allowed at least a gallon of water in from the side buckling down, it held up well. This kayak was up for the challenge of a day on the lake fishing with an 8 year old boy and a heavy adult. For what the inflatable lacked, it made up for in it's price point and durability. The most important takeaway I intend in this review is there are things you should consider using to aid in your enjoyment of the kayak and this inflatable provided some great memories for my son and I. We observed blue heron from the water, ducks coming and going, waves to ride, swimming and fishing. If you find yourself questioning the purchase, I don't think you'll be disappointed and I highly recommend this kayak. Enjoy and be safe!

Awesome.
Looove it! I can’t say enough good things. It was so easy to inflate and put away. I will definitely be taking this to all my water adventures. It fit me and my mom comfortably. Both about 5’2 and we were comfortable. I truly think the value was something you can’t beat. The bag that came with, it is plenty of room to restore it. So far, very impressed. Biased to the other people I do prefer to use my own electric pump which definitely makes it easier and a lot faster. I also use that same pump to deflate. But even without it, deflates pretty fast.

Excellent Kayak! Very fun and good quality for the price!
Great kayak and excellent for the price. Works well and is comfortable enough, although clearly not as maneuverable and has a tendency to drift as compared to a traditional solid kayak. Comfortably fits 2 people, but no more. A fantastic purchase that I have gotten a lot of use from. So far the plastic has been durable and there have been no leaks. Assembly/disassembly isn’t too difficult. It is also nice that the unit included the paddles and the hand pump. All works as intended.

Shockingly durable
I admit I was nervous to use this at first, but at such a low price I thought if I could get one use before it pops it will be equal to renting a canoe for the day. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The durability is exceedingly better than I expected, which I accidently put the test my third time on the water. The lake I was on has broken tree limbs sticking out all over the banks. Heading back to the boat ramp paddling at a good clip I managed to go straight on top of a broken branch sticking about a foot and a half out of the water which was hidden by the front of the kayak as I was in the boat alone. It hit it dead center, it lifted the kayak out of the water and stopped me with the branch ending up right underneath my seat. I immediately pictured the pop, and started to come up with a plan since I wasn't close to the boat ramp and it was getting dark with a water temp below 60. But that never happened. No pop, no leak, but I was stuck. I paddled backward and with some effort managed to get off the branch. Paddled back to the ramp, flipped the kayak over, and found that there was not even a scratch! I am impressed. I have used the boat 4-5 times, not one issue so far. I view that as a great value even if it popped on the next trip. I feel confident enough to take this kayak on the nearby river for my yearly 10-16 mile trip. I also use this for fishing, and while I am careful of hooks, I am not nervous anymore. The skeg that is included is sturdy and stays in place even if you hit bottom. Keeps the kayak on track fairly decent. With one person the seat can be placed roughly in the middle with ample space in front and behind for legs and gear. With two people, leg room is a little less but still not bad. The back tests are supported by a buckle strap that attaches to the boat and it works well. I am just as comfortable as any other kayak. The portability means I can take this boat at any time in any car to any place I want. You won't regret this purchase

Turned out to be a great purchase. So convenient!
We are experienced Kayakers who have other hard sit on top and sit in kayaks. This was our first inflatable. For the price of admission, ours turned out to be a great purchase. We use it on vacation, so that we don’t have to carry our expensive kayaks on our vehicle for hundreds or thousands of miles, and worry about them getting stolen when we camp. We have used our Intex Explorer on the ocean inlet canals in Murrel’s Inlet, SC and it works great for that. Smooth water with some current. Our limit is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before we feel cramped and need to take a break by getting out of the yak. I am 6’ and wife is 5’ 8”. This kayak is a little short for two people our sizes, but anything significantly longer is a lot more money so we make due. The Explorer K2 tracks well using the included skeg and when good paddling technique is used. When we paddle hard and fast in unison, it tracks very straight and is speedy enough. When letting off and ceasing all paddling, it will drift and the rear will start to swing out some. Not a big deal. The materials used seem durable enough for the price point. The only thing we really would like changed would be the inflation valves on the floor and on the front and rear bow and stern covers leave a little to be desired. They are the cheap little clear flip out valves like are used on inflatable pool toys. The other valves to inflate the sides the are the nice kind of valves that don’t let air escape when you pull the air pump out after inflating. Again, for the price point we figure they have to cut corners somewhere, and these are the areas they did. But all in all this is an amazing value for the money. We are done with set up and inflation using the included pump within 10-12 minutes, and deflation is even quicker. If we find we start using the Intex more and more, we may upgrade at some point to a longer (like 12-13 ft) inflatable kayak. If Intex made one, we’d buy it today. So if you want the convenience of a kayak you can take with you anywhere (comes with it’s own bag), and you want in for low cost, the Explorer K2 is a good way to go! The kayak is really good. Stable in sea and easy to fill up also. The seats aren't great, but overall good value for money.
