XMARK Adjustable Speed Bag Platform, 24" Wood Drum, Heavy Duty Wall Mount, Pro Swivel, Low Vibration, for Boxing & MMA Home Gym Training

I just turned sixty. :( The last time I used a speed bag was in my teens but I needed a low impact exercise and remembered my younger days. I was pretty darn good back in the day. This is mounted to a wall in my old house and is sturdy. But two issues. Using a stud finder I centered my holes for the wall racks and put them up loose with the lag bolts supplied. But, when I tried to install the platform bracket per instructions, no go. The platform bracket is too wide so I had to mount it on the outside of the wall racks, not the inside per instructions. So, the red knobs are on the inside and harder to adjust. Not sure if its my old house studs or the XMark bracket thats out of wack. So, Measure first!! Second, the swivel has 1/8" up and down slop in the upper part of the swivel. I'm sure I will be happy getting back in the "swing" of things. ;) EDIT: December 4th, 2020 - Updated to FIVE Stars!! - Not only was there vertical slop but horizontal also. The swivel unit uses a master link for a motorcycle chain to hold the bag. The upper part of the link had slop in it also. Both of these issues are easily fixed. First, the vertical 1/8" slop. Unscrew the upper most part of the swivel and inside is a bearing held in by a nut. Remove the nut and bearing and add a large washer under and replace and adjust the nut for proper tightness. Done. Then, for the horizontal slop at the master link. Remove the link clip and add a small nylon washer on each side and re-install. Done!! Easy and cheap. Why didn't the manufacturer do this in the first place??!! Like riding a bike. The basics came back to me with no problem except my shoulders and arms are a lot older.

This speed bag mount not only works amazing but is elegant to look at as well. The board has a beautiful finish and was packaged as to prevent damage. This completely blows the speed bag mount at the local gym out of the water. I would recommend this over the Valor Athletics type platforms because it protrudes from the wall more making it easier to do behind the bag hitting. Vibration is very minimal, the mount is rock solid. I first mounted two vertical 1x6 boards to the wall studs and then mounted the platform to the 1x6. I have a total of 8 bolts anchoring the platform to the studs. The feature to move the platform up and down works well and I have not experienced any slipping. In my opinion this is the best bag mount that you could possible get for this price point. I haven't tried a chain type swivel before, but I really like the swivel included. I know some other reviewers didn't care too much for the swivel. I think its the bees knees!

Solid. Easy to install with 2 people. High quality. I recommend it to you. Don't skimp and save money and get a cheaper one because you wish you had this one. I mounted it on a 2"x10" screwed to 5 wall studs.

I do not write reviews, but I had to write one for this product. The assembly was very easy. The parts came laminated and labeled to a cardboard backer. Each part is labeled clearly ,and the instructions identify where each are supposed to go. Once assembled, the other reviews are right, the unit is a bear in terms of weight. I had something to put it on top of and prop it up against the wall while lag bolting it in. One note is I measured the holes in the verticle brackets to mount to the wall and they are EXACTLY 16" on center. The holes in the brakets are large enough so that you will have some wiggle room in case your wall studs are not exactly 16". Get another person to help you if you do not have an object to support it in while you lag it to the wall. The unit is VERY nice and sturdy, so do it right the first time. I highly recommend this product. The wooden platform is like a very thick piece of furniture. Very well finished and extremely thick. I did read the other reviews and added a 3/8th washer to each tightening handle as recommended, but I wasn't sure if I really needed it. The adjusting of the height once installed us very easy. Overall I highly recommend investing in this item if you want to use a speed bag. I would be very suspicious of any sub par reviews. Excellent product - 5 stars.

Good quality materials and workmanship for the price. Very good solid rebound but, as with all platforms, it MUST be mounted correctly. I mounted mine on a non load bearing wall so I used two 26" long 2 X 6's horizontally then two 2 X 6's vertically and set them 16" on center so I could mount the rails plus added a 3" lag bolt on either side. Probably overkill but I used 24 3" lag bolts in all but, it all paid off, that baby is solid!

Mine came with a pretty cheap chain link swivel that was loud as hell and slow. When I went to replace it with a quality(Deville #13) swivel I discovered that the x mark swivel screw holes were not standard, so to install ANY swivel(Everlast,Title, Deville) I had to line up and drill standard spaced holes. The only good thing here was the wood is obviously quite dense because a decent home power drill could not drill the holes despite having my 225 pounds of body weight behind it. I had an auto mechanic friend drill the holes which he did no problem with a commercial grade drill. I used the platform max 30-60 minutes a week because I split my days between two homes. I had a cheap everlast in the other home that has been fine for 5 years. Well at the 6 month mark the X Mark platform is falling apart with the wood seams giving out. Now it rattles loudly and I am sure if I don't re glue it, it will completely fall to pieces. The manufacturer warranty is useless because it doesn't cover shipping(about 50 bucks both ways) Why would I spend 100 dollars to ship the product back and get an inferior product again? Bottom line the Balazs platform IS professional grade and I will be going with that now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS UNLESS YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT USING IT. If u plan to leave it as a clothes hanger in your basement after a couple of weeks you'll be fine. I had to switch this from one star to 4....here is why. I complained to the company re: the above issue.The only real problem with my platform was the drum. After verifying that I did indeed purchase their product they sent me a new drum charging me only $10.50 for shipping. I did not have to ship the defective drum back. They asked for digital photos of the issues. I received fairly quickly a new drum. This one was finished with polyurethane or lacquer, something I had not considered might be helpful. Not only does it make the drum more attractive it will likely prevent the seams from splitting likely from the temperature/humidity changes in my garage with the seasons. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars is this.... The swivel holes are not standard requiring one to drill new holes for a better swivel. You need to be careful to make this perfectly centered(mine were off slightly which hampered my visualization while using the bag but I am adapting to it). Secondly as all platforms in this price range the drum is just under 2 inches thick which means it will vibrate with use. To get a thicker heavier drum u will likely pay closer to 3x the price, so you are left to apply a sandbag or other weight to the top of the platform. The problem with this is the red nuts which are used to adjust the height of the drum don't seem to have the strength to keep it in place and it slides down slowly with use requiring re adjustment after about every 12 minutes of use. Perhaps adding a washer to the 4 bolts may help the gripping strength. I'll give it a try. All in all a good platform for the price and I had a good experience with customer service.

It's always a bit of a coin toss to see reviews and a product description, and then order a product without seeing it. And I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of paying $57 just to ship this back if it was a bust ... But this choice was a winner. Heavy steel, continuous welds (not spot welding) across the connecting pieces. Well designed to mount on wall studs, with brackets already placed 16" on center. Plastic and steel washers with easy to turn screws hold the platform at the height you choose. Locks in place easily and securely. When you loosen the screws to adjust the height, the platform doesn't fall on your head ... you have to maneuver it so it's completely parallel to the floor to let it slide down. I'm not a boxer, and I use this for cross training, so I can't compare this to a "professional" platform, but in the past I had used lower quality platforms -- with great disappointment -- and this is clearly superior. I can still say that the platform does not shake when the speed bag is bouncing, so the return is consistent. No adding bags of sand on top of the platform to stabilize it, as others had written in their evaluation of competing platforms. Being happy with how it performs makes it more likely you'll actually keep using it to train with a speed bag, rather than to hang your clothes ... Note: there are no instructions with this unit. Just the parts. And it's heavy -- 40+ pounds -- and unwieldy. I had a carpenter install it ... well worth the cost of one hour of labor to have him put it in. (By the way, he's 180 pounds and did a pull up off the end of the platform after installing it to show how solidly it was fixed to the wall...)

All pieces - steel and wood - are built solid. They assemble exactly, into a sturdy structure with no gaps to cause vibration and no reason to add sandbags on top of the drum. The swivel does the job. It's a chain link, so not quick release; but that's only an issue if constantly changing bags. The height adjustment works smoothly and tightens without any play. The packaging was double-boxed, against external damage. The problem is internal, as my drum was slightly nicked by the pack of bolts that got wedged underneath. Still usable. At this price, the Xmark is half that of the TKO platform, which was the same design and make, except for the wood. I had to return the TKO, because the drum came slightly warped and would not align with the frame. Together with the X-mark heavy bag stand (xm2845), the speed bag platform can be mounted to the front. All the manufacturer's photos show attachment to the rear, which requires another three feet of space to an already sizable layout. The front mount leaves plenty of room for the heavy bag to swing, and no limitation to the height adjustment. Both assemblies seem to have been designed accordingly, but their marketing pictures just don't show it.

Very good quality. Came exactly as ordered. Heavy duty frame, great quality finish. Count me as a very happy buyer.
