Review: A staple for diaper rash, dry skin, and chapped lips - This is truly a holy-grail product in our house for a long list of skin issues. If you are like me and have tried several times to switch to beeswax-based or more “natural” products for your children, only to end up with a nasty rash, this may be worth trying. Sometimes not everything has to be ultra-pure, hand-foraged, and blessed by the mushroom fairies. Sometimes you just need to use what actually works for your child’s comfort. To be clear, if natural products work well for your family, that is great. But after trying many creams, salves, and balms, this is the one product I have used that not only clears diaper rash incredibly fast, but also helps prevent it altogether when used consistently. What makes this better than plain petroleum products, in my opinion, is that it is not just petrolatum. Aquaphor also includes ingredients like panthenol, glycerin, and bisabolol. Panthenol helps support skin barrier repair and retain moisture, glycerin is a humectant that draws in moisture, and bisabolol is known for its soothing properties. That combination makes it feel more effective and more skin-supportive than a basic petroleum ointment. I also use it for dry, scaly patches that show up in baby rolls, and they are often dramatically improved by the next day. At one point I tried to save money by switching to a generic petroleum-based product, and I realized very quickly that it was not the same. This formula really is in a different league. After seeing how well it worked on chapped cheeks, I started using a small amount at night as the final step in my own skincare routine to lock everything in, and it has genuinely helped my tired 37-year-old skin. Yes, it is greasy, but that is the point. It is meant to be highly occlusive, which is exactly what you want when trying to seal moisture in and protect irritated skin from further dryness and exposure. Another bonus, it makes an excellent lip balm. It helps heal chapped lips quickly and keeps them looking hydrated. Overall, this is one of the most versatile products I keep on hand for both babies and adults. Diaper rash, dry patches, chapped cheeks, lips, and even slugging for grown-up skin, it does it all. I would not want to be without it.

Excellent quality and very effective, highly recommend!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can adults use this also?**
A: Adults can use this, but just FYI this is not the same as the “adult” Aquaphor Healing Ointment. There are a couple additional ingredients in this baby version to specifically help diaper rash.

**Q: We love aquaphor for our baby but have never used the tub version, just the squeeze tubes. Do you dip your finger into this? Bacteria?**
A: I don’t have this product, but I have a tub of Cera Ve. I buy a smaller container (like a tiny travel sized jar for cosmetics) and use a silicone applicator “brush” to put some in the tiny travel jar. I never stick my fingers in my bigger original jar. That way I’m only contaminating a little bit that I know will be used quickly. Or you can just use an applicator and wash it every time.

I plan to buy some aquaphor for my son who gets chapped cheeks and chin. I will plan on
Using the little jars so they’re easier to travel with and keep us from contaminating the full jar.

**Q: What is the difference between the normal advanced therapy version and the baby formula?**
A: For years now I have noticed the only difference between the regular Aquaphor and the Baby Aquaphor is $1. The company is charging $1 for the name Baby to be on the label. Ingredients are exactly the same.

**Q: I seem to get outbreaks of eczema on my legs and sometimes, my arms. Will this get rid of the ugly red spots?**
A: Placing ice cubes (wrapped in a towel) on the affected area is one of the best and easiest ways to relieve eczema itching and burning sensation. Moreover, the water trickling from ice hydrates the skin. In case you do not have ice cubes, you may wrap a packet of frozen peas in a towel and use it as a cold compress.Application of extra-virgin coconut oil can prove highly beneficial in getting rid of eczema because it has natural moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, it maintains the natural chemical balance of the skin and forms an antimicrobial barrier on skin. It is best to apply coconut oil after taking your bath or shower. Besides, you may apply a bandage dipped in warm coconut oil.Applying pure aloe vera gel, too, is useful in soothing and curing eczema rashes. When dealing with chronic eczema worsened with Staph infection, you can take a dilute bleach bath. For this, you need to add a quarter to half a cup of bleach in a tub filled with lukewarm water. You can use regular chlorine bleach for this purpose. Just soak in the solution for about 10 minutes, at most twice a week.If you are looking for a natural alternative, then take an oatmeal bath. You can create this bath either by using pure colloidal oatmeal or grinding rolled oats/quick oats in a coffee grinder.Just mix a cup of oatmeal in a tub filled with warm water (make sure you break the clumps at the bottom) and soak in this soothing bath for about 15-20 minutes. You can take this bath once or twice daily.Burdock root contains a several medicinal properties. Hence, it is considered good for healing a number of skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, carbuncles, ulcers, etc. You can drink burdock tea and apply a paste or salve prepared by grinding this herb.Steroid creams are useful for reducing itching and inflammation. Thus, you can put a thin layer of some corticosteroid cream or ointment on the affected area.To make this treatment more effective, apply an emollient on skin about 15 minutes before applying the steroid cream. Follow this remedy once or twice daily.Interestingly, topical chamomile creams also work as mild steroid creams. If nothing else works, your doctor may prescribe topical immunosuppressants or other medications.Phototherapy or ultraviolet light treatment is considered helpful in the treatment of eczema for mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. It is usually performed at hospitals under the supervision of a dermatologist. This treatment is mostly undertaken when the condition becomes widespread and does not respond to any medications.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would definitely buy this product again....

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Ultimate "Fix-It" Tube – A Medicine Cabinet Essential (Even for Adults)
*by T***N on January 16, 2026*

Don't let the word "Baby" on the packaging fool you. While Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment (7 Oz Tube) is practically a requirement for parents, I have found it to be one of the most versatile skincare products you can own, regardless of your age. The Good: The Tube vs. The Tub: I specifically recommend this 7oz tube over the large tubs you dip your fingers into. It is far more hygienic, especially if you are using it for minor scrapes or diaper changes, as it prevents bacteria from getting into the product. Magic on "Winter Skin": If you suffer from cracked knuckles, chapped lips, or dry patches around your nose during the cold months, this stuff is superior to standard lotions. Because it contains 41% Petrolatum combined with Panthenol (Vitamin B5), it creates a seal that actually heals the skin overnight rather than just moisturizing it for an hour. Drool & Diaper Rash: For its intended purpose, it is unmatched. It creates a protective barrier that moisture literally slides off of. It’s particularly great for "drool rash" on a baby’s chin because it’s safe if they accidentally ingest a tiny bit. The "Need to Know": It is Greasy: This is an ointment, not a cream. It does not absorb quickly like a lotion. It sits on top of the skin. If you use it on your hands, you won't be able to touch your phone or doorknobs for a while without leaving smudges. Baby vs. Regular: The secret is out—the "Baby" formula is almost identical to the "Adult" Aquaphor. The baby version is sometimes slightly milder (no fragrance, no preservatives), but generally, they are interchangeable. If one is on sale, feel free to buy it even if you don't have a baby (or vice versa). Verdict: Whether you are preventing diaper rash, healing a new tattoo, or fighting dry winter elbows, this tube is a powerhouse. It is the definition of a "must-have" product that you will find yourself reaching for constantly.
