is there still sound from tv

If you use the optical audio o/p of the TV you will still get sound from the TV. If you use the headphone socket that will usually cut the sound from the TV. Also the quality of audio, from the headphone socket, is not as good as the optical connection.

I know this is not true surround but can you hear anyting from behind you with optical 5.1 source?

No, you won't be able to. That's because these are not 5.1 headphones. The Sennheiser website says this:"The Bass Boost and Surround Sound listening modes will allow you to experience your home entertainment system like never before - the former increases the audio bass response while the two virtual surround modes offer a more spatial and livelier stereo sound."At best, you will get an 'echoier' stereo sound when the surround modes are activated, but I don't use them. Do not buy these expecting any kind of 5.1 experience. Buy them if you want a fantastic bassy stereo experience which is what I bought them for and am delighted with.

Will the dock for these work with 110v? Since they come with so many adaptors I understand they're universal?

Sorry I don't no when I got mine it had only 1 plug top 3 pin 220v - 240v and that all sorry I cannot help you

Are these suitable for a very hard of hearing person. our tv is a new sony brava without bluetooth. will everyone else be able to hear the tv as norm?
