Pilot BKHDF1SF-S Dr. Grip 4+1, 4 Color 0.7 mm Ballpoint Multi Pen & 0.5 mm Pencil - Silver Body

Oh my god, this pen has changed my life. It sounds silly, but I don't know how I've been sleeping on this pen for as long as I have. As a student, I've been keeping 4 pens (of differing colors), one mechanical pencil, and an eraser for all of my academic needs. I then moved on to a 4-way pen, mechanical pencil, and an eraser. Now, I only use two things: an eraser and this pen. I bought two of these angels because I knew I'd fall in love with them and I was right. I did struggle in the beginning because I didn't know how to make the lead come out. As it turns out, the mechanical pencil is pushed down by the clip if you slide it down completely until you hear/feel it click.The weight feels good in my hand, its cozy to hold, and easy to switch between pen types with one hand. The material is pretty hardy and it doesn't feel cheap. I recommend using the Pentel Ain Stein Mechanical Pencil Lead, 0.5mm HB for this mech. pencil as its one of the best you could use.I wish they made it easier to refill it, but for now, you have to unscrew the bottom part of the pen in order to access the pens. Then you have to pull out the white mechanical pencil piece so then you can pour in some lead. The pen also makes noise and its not that loud to me, but I wonder if its annoying for my classmates to hear its constant clicking. Although, I guess it doesn't matter that much since it helps me study and take notes. The eraser is hidden inside that cap at the top, but its pretty small and I would rather use a separate eraser at that point.

I'm an architecture student and we're all really picky with pens... and although its not for drafting or anything like that, i know a good pen when i see one. This one is AWESOMEI haven't had this pen for too long but its amazing. The ink runs SO smoothly, it doesnt bleed through paper (since its ballpoint) and the red/green/blue colors are wonderfully vibrant!! its not like the dull colors pens. I use this pen for taking notes and i dedicate each color to a different purpose and its amazing. (example, for trig, red=question and answer, blue=process and work, green= side notes the teacher says that explains one step to the next or just like little side notes that help) and black i dont really use that much for trig but for other things i do.Honestly every student should have this pen.SO worth it.

The pen colors are fine, dark, and advance easily. I took off one star because, as other reviews have stated, the pencil won't advance using the clip like it's supposed to. I have to take the barrel apart to advance the pencil. Great pen pencil combo, but flawed pencil mechanism.

I am an architect in training and I have to say that this product is great for field surveys. The ability to quickly change between 5 different colors is amazing when doing on site surveys as you are able to layer information flawlessly without the normal confusion inherent with single line marks. If you do field surveys or simply like to have multiple mediums on hand at any given time this is the product for you. It is comfortable and the mechanism to change from color to color is very fluid.

Light weight so doesn't feel overly cumbersome. Inks are great they do not smear and I am left handed. I am a nurse and use all colors frequently. I love having to carry only one pen. I am older so the grip matters. Those small pens hurt my fingers but this one does not. I will buy refills for mine!!! Finally thanks Pilot!!!

I Love this Pen! I use it Everyday for my Calendar and also take down Passwords and everything else I need. It writes really well and I love having the 4 colors. It helps keep all my notes in order. Great for drawing too!

I bought one of these for myself, and my son liked it so much that he asked me to get him one. Writes in blue, black, green, and red, plus it has a pencil. The pen is a little thicker than the average pen due to all the different inks in the barrel, but it is comfortable to hold and writes smoothly.

The pencil mechanism is of poor quality and ruins the entire thing. The major issue that the piece that drags the lead through toward the tip will eventually jam and cause the back end of the lead to break off leaving a piece of lead in an inaccessible tip. Eventually I got it out but now any lead I put in there just slides through freely with no friction.The second issue is that if you write really fast and have the tendency to move the pencil around in your hand just by nature, touching the clip that brings out the pencil causes it to retract. Very annoying when taking notes!The pens are abnormally short. But that's easy to work with.Also, and this is my fault, 0.7mm is too thin.

Lo mejor en plumas que he usado es barata en relacion a su calidad y funcionalidad, la recomiendo0 ampliamemnte para apuntes, y estar siempre acompañado por una buena pluma, practica y moderna, solo que me gsutaria que vendieran todas las refacciones en Mexico de todos los colores.

The plastic of the pen is smooth, soft matte, and sort of warm. The packaging of mine was all in japanese, but the order was fulfilled by Amazon. Even though it comes with the 0.7mm pen refills installed it writes finer than I expected. And of the multi-pens I own, this is the only one with a vibrant green (all the colours are vibrant, I like that). The pencil is neat, but don't expect I'll use it as often at work. I don't work a desk job, so I have to carry my pens in my pocket, and I have to use ballpoint so it can't be a fountain pen. Now if they made a multipen that also had a thick permanent marker instead of a pencil... that would be the best possible pen for me... I still really like this one.
