Awesome wool wash!
TL;DR -- it got these pants clean just by soaking them! Great product & I definitely recommend it. I've gotten a lot of wool clothing over the past year and a half. Eucalan does an excellent job cleaning it, and keeping it soft and odor-resistant. It's easy to use-- add 1 teaspoon per gallon of lukewarm water (I usually use 1 tablespoon in a 3-gallon bucket). Gently squeeze the water through clothing, soak for 15+ minutes (I do half an hour), squeeze out the excess & lay clothes on a drying rack. Happily my washing machine has a "drain & spin" setting, so I use that instead of squeezing out the water by hand. The Eucalan is most effective if you DON'T rinse it out. I slopped a bunch of sludge-water on my pants while cleaning a plaster trap (see photo) but was confident that Eucalan could clean them. I didn't get around to washing them until a day later, but I still didn't bother pre-washing or rinsing out the stain first. I just used twice as much Eucalan, since it says to use more for heavily soiled items, and followed the directions above. The pants came out perfectly clean, just a few little specks left in the stitching which were only noticeable since I was looking closely. I personally prefer the lavender scent, but since I bought the unscented first, I've been using a bit of each, for each load.

Wool wash, no rinse needed
This is my favorite wool wash. It cleans well, contains some lanolin and doesn't require rinsing. It's very nice for hand washing items that I don't want turning into felt. My favorite scent is the eucalyptus.

Best wool wash
We think Eucalan is the best for washing our woolens. We have a lot of hand knitted woolens and, for as long as I can remember, we've used Eucalan to clean them. It is gentle on the wool fabrics and just a little goes a long way. Eucalan gets them clean without damaging the finest wool. Highly recommend!

For Delicate Hand Knit Items
Works wonders on wools and hand knit items; should be more specific about whether or not rinsing helps. It claims to need no rinsing but doesn't explain why. Easy to use.

Great product
Bought for washing cashmere sweaters and scarves. Very mild and no rinsing required. It was recommended by an avid knitter who uses it on all her hand knit items. Very happy with product.

Fantastic product. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe it.
I've recently been drawn into an online laundry "cult". Eucalan is recommended there for laundering animal fibers. A couple of years ago I bought a vintage ski sweater on a well-known auction site. It was from the 70's, thick and amazingly warm. I'd washed the sweater quite a few times, gentle cycle, air dried. It was scratchy, but tolerable. I saw Eucalan mentioned for wool by a laundry guru/chemist, and thought I'd give it a try. I put 2 gallons of tepid water in a 5 gallon bucket, added 2 tsp of Eucalan, and the sweater. I gently smooshed the sweater around. OMIGOSH!!! You would not believe the stench and grossness that were released immediately! I left the sweater soaking for an hour. After the hour, I lifted the sweater out, dumped and rinsed the pitch black water from the bucket (after taking the attached picture), and rinsed the sweater in clear water. Then... I repeated the process. Again, more stench, more black water. I gave the sweater 3 soaks of an hour or so each. On the third soak, there was no stink and the water was nearly clear. I didn't rinse the sweater after the last soak, choosing to let the Eucalan do its duty. The sweater is so soft now and not itchy at all. And no trace of 1970's nicotine and sebum. This stuff is amazing.
