Levi's Mens 505 Regular Fit Shorts

Sturdy denim shorts that are good for work in the trades. True to size and great fit. Replacing my Carhartt work shorts with these because they are stronger, last longer and are cheaper. A good update to these old classic shorts would be a tech gear pocket to hold a cell phone. Just a thought.

These are great shorts and I always used to wear them in the past but have only worn gym type shorts the last 5 years so I wasn't sure how Levi wwas sizing their shorts. I would not go by actual waist size as they were not even close, My waist is a 42 so I ordered a 44 thinking they would shrink up after washing a few times but I got them and put them on and they fell to my ankles. Terurned then and got a 40 and those also fell to my ankles. I settled on a 36 and I have to wear a belt after a few hours becuase they start to fall down on me, but I did try a 34 and they were way to tight as I could barley zip them up and button them. Bottom line is go to a local store that sells Levi shorts and try them on in ALL models 505,550 etc. because they all fit a little different and they are NO WERE NEAR actual waist measurements. So in LEVI theory actual size 42 waist would be a Levi size 36/35 they all no matter what model of short ran way too big. If you like to wear a belt then no problem but if you don't tuck your shirt ina nd hate wearing a belt then save yourself the hassle of multiple returns by trying them on at a local store before buying online. The only reason I bought them online was my local stores like Khol's or even a Levis outlet store never had my sizes and always had to shop at multiple locations just to find something that fit, The money you save here at Amazon is worth the hassle though and the return process was fairly quick.

I purchased Levi's 505 Regular Fit Medium Stonewash Shorts in size 38 in the very high twenty's dollar range and a pair of Carhartt Men's Five Pocket Denim Dark Classic Wash Shorts in size 38 in the very high teen's dollar range on Amazon within weeks of each other. I already reviewed the Carhartt shorts. These Levi 505 shorts are more fitted to the leg, crotch and butt. About the same at the waist, ever so slightly more snug in the waist though, but still very reasonable. I really like the way these feel on, they just feel nicer because of the fit. The Carhartt were more baggy and there was no taper in the leg from the thigh to the knee where the Levi does taper. The Levi denim material is slightly lighter/thinner but not by so much that I think it would affect wear. The only problem is the Levi 505's are still too long. At size 38, on my medium 5' 8" build the short goes down to the knee, right where my knee bends. Although the Levi's are about 1/2 inch shorter (measured inseam from crotch to end of material) than the Carhartt, I would like to see them shorter. The Amazon/Levi picture shows the shorts above the knee on some slender dude probably wear 29's but I'll never be there again. I think I will buy these Levi's again, but I will look around for a little shorter short. There is another pair that quotes a 9 1/2 inch inseam but they are Carpenter Shorts with the hammer loop and extra pockets in the side/back.

The shorts are the high quality expected from Levi's. We ordered the wrong size. Webought 2 more pairs right size this time. The fit and length are perfect.

Love these shorts. Fit great. Look great. Comfortable. Wash & dry well. Highly recommend. Only bad thing is that I can't order more because it is "unavailable". Bummer.

I was a bit nervous as it was a relaxed fit product and I prefer a bit tight ones. But love this one. It is actually pretty slim for a relaxed fit. perfect shape and length. Will recommend.

Love the material as it is soft and yet the jean look. And the price is unbeatable too.
