What size needle do I use for 9 count cross stitch, I'm using 6 strands of floss?

I would use a size 22 for an 8 or 11 count project. Size 24 for 14 count and a size 28 for anything higher. I usually do 14 count projects, so I am not sure if that helps you. Good Luck!

I'm looking for blunt end tapestry needles for my child to work with. Is this the same?

These are blunt end, but the size depends on the canvass or mesh size. Tapestry needles range from 18-28, the larger the number, the smaller the needle and the smaller the needle, the smaller the eye of the needle. I use these 24's for cross stitch using embroidery thread on a 14-count Aida fabric. If you are using a larger count fabric or canvass, or if you're using yarn, you would need a larger eye of the needle and therefor a lower numbered size. All are blunt end, but the smaller the needle the more sharp even a blunt end would be.

Perfect for cross stitch! Big enough eye to make threading easy. Not particularly sharpe - which is not an issue for cross stitch. Silver colour has not yet tarnished after use. Very pleased
