Not worth the money
I have bought 6 different sets of the LEM collagen casings multiple sizes. I have run Tons of franks and brats. as soon as I start cooking them 3/4 of the casings burst. I will not purchase these again. I will tell all my friends to not purchase these. Stick to natural casings and get them some where else. These casings stink. I have literally made thousands of hotdogs and brats. And only the LEM collagen casings have ever given me this issue I Have even followed the instructions and 3/4 of them still burst. Before writing this review I had burchased more casings believing that okay maybe the three sets I got were bad...Unlikely but possible. The same thing happened.Stay away. Purchase from another manufacture

Not bad...
This is my first time using casings at all, let alone collagen casings. They mostly worked well enough, though there were a few issues putting them onto the sausage attachment. I did not like the way they tended to tear or split while I was trying to stuff them. Also, once the sausage was made and cooked, if the casing did not stay firmly adhered to the meat it had a rubbery unpleasant texture. It was not noticed at all if the casing remained firm to the meat.

No frig of casing required for storage
I did not want to purchase pig or lamb casing via the mail as they need to be refrigerated, so I opted for collagen, which does not need to be refrigerated. I also take the casing off of my sausage when I cook it, so the casing was not a big deal to me. I like the fact that the casing is dry, made it easier to handle. As it was my first attempt at sausage making, I cut a small piece, I had 5 lb of chicken, and went to work. The casing fit the tube perfectly, I did have trouble holding the casing as the meat dropped, but practice should solve that. All in all, I only had one place where the casing broke, my mistake not the casing, when I tried to wrap it to close. I also made the mistake of placing in the frig within a plastic bag to chill. Do not recommend as it created moisture. I will attempt to cook some of the sausage with the casing just to see what it taste like.

takes a little practice but works just fine
My friend and I used these, making sausage with a Cuisnart grinder and sausage attachment. It took a bit to get the hang of it, but these casings worked just fine. They did filled fully and didn't break. There was no notable flavor and the texture was fine. When you cook them, they do tend to get crispy and peel a bit from the meat. This was not an issue for us, as we made sausages we intended to pan fry. I wouldn't use these for a boiled sausage.

First time using, will try others before this again
These did work and I like the casings. Issue is when eating the snack sticks the casing is not chew able when warm or room temp. If you pull a stick out from the fridge they are fine. This year was my first time making deer snack sticks so went with these. I love the sticks, these do not seem to alter the flavor. Just does not *chew* as I expected - thinking along the lines of store bought sticks, these are not the same.Maybe I did something wrong, dunno.

I really like these casings
I really like these casings. My husband cannot deal with the smell (and taste since he smelled it) of the natural hog casings, so this is a great alternative. I gave it 4 stars because when I cook the sausage, it's hit or miss if the casing is going to hold. I'd say about 30% of the time, the casing does not make it through cooking and breaks away from the sausage. I like to have the casing in tact when I eat sausage, but not all of my family does, so it works for us, but it's a little irritating when I cook it and I have to peel the rest of the casing off the sausage so it's not changing off when I plate it.

Great Alternative to Natural Casing
These casings held up pretty well during stuffing (vs my natural casings which burst frequently... maybe it's user error). The sausage I cooked immediately burst in the pan but the batches I left sit in the fridge and the batches I froze and defrosted held up a lot better in the pan. I was worried about the taste seeing as I normally use natural hog casings but these didn't really taste like anything which is fine - let the sausage shine through :) Directions say don't soak but you'll definitely want to run some water through the casing before using to soften them up. If you're looking for thin casing for breakfast links and are considering hog casings, I'd recommend giving these a try at least once!

Brittle collagen, but easy to use
First, the good. This collagen is super easy to use. You can feed it onto your stuffing attachment without soaking, which makes stuffing very quick and simpleThe bad. The collagen doesn't require soaking so it is very brittle. We had almost a foot of the casing burst while stuffing, which meant that all that meat ended up as bratwurst patties instead of bratwurst. Also, because it is a no-soak casing, it doesn't do very well when wet so if you intend on boiling your finished sausages this casing will not work for you. We had two of the bratwursts we made dissolve while they were boiling in beer. It was a total mess and a total waste.Only buy this if you intend to grill your finished sausages. Otherwise, spring for something that is a little more durable.

Casings break
These casings split when you put the sausage in the pan. They are loosely packed. Not great quality. Have been making sausages for over 20 years . Did not even get `12lbs of meat in the casings.

Not the real thing but a very good substitute
Very easy to work withNo soaking required (or allowed)This is definitely not the real thing but if it’s all that you have or if you want to keep extra on hand I would highly recommend it.Also good for those adverse to eating gutsCooks up well and is basically tasteless.I was surprised.

Good
I really like these sausage casings. I had run out of my usual salt packed pork casings so thought I would take a chance with these. They were very easy to use, you just need to keep them sealed, and they’re very forgiving. Don’t soak them or let them come into contact with water, say, on your counter as this will cause them to be too soft to use. I really like the end product as these casings gave a little bit better snap than the hog casings. Great on the bbq!

OK for fresh sausages maybe. Not if you are ...
OK for fresh sausages maybe. Not if you are smoking and dry curing - meat shrinks but casing does not wrap around meat as it shrinks, just leaves air pockets galore!
