Review: Keep tabs on your refrigerator/freezer temps while sitting in your favorite chair! - After having the compressor go out on my LG fridge at 16 months and going without for 4, I wound up getting a replacement under the warranty. Not sure if this compressor is still the KNOWN bad one, I want to keep up with the fridge and freezer temps. That way I can transfer foods if necessary instead of losing it all because I didn't know the compressor died. I bought the standard refrigerator thermometers. The cheap ones varied as much as 8 degrees. The more expensive one seems to be reliable. BUT, I have to periodically do a manual (walk to the unit and open doors/drawers) to do this. We had a power blip last week and when I checked 40 minutes later, the temp in the fridge and the freezer had gone way up - almost to 50 for the fridge and from 0 to 20 in the freezer. Had I not needed something in the fridge, I would not have known. I pulled the plug and let it reset, plugged it back in and got the temp back to normal. That is a really long lead in as to why I bought this. I want to be able to see the current temp at a glance while I am in the living room. This unit gives me that - plus I can see updates every 15 seconds. It also shows the lowest and highest temps over the last 24 hours. I have learned that the freezer (set to 0) goes from -7 to 20. The fridge (set at 39) goes from 36 to 43. I can now set alarms for both the fridge and freezer if the temps go higher than what I feel is safe. It is obvious when the freezer goes into defrost and it doesn't stay high for too long. The range on this unit is 75 feet. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who has had temperature issues with their refrigerator and especially to those who have an LG with the 'inverter compressor'.
Review: Best Temperature Monitor For Your Fridge and Freezer - I purchased this to monitor the temperatures in my Frigidaire refrigerator as I had an episode where items in the refrigerator (i.e. cans of water and a steak) were frozen and items in the freezer (i.e. fudge pops) were partially thawed and I was concerned my refrigerator was malfunctioning. The installation was straight forward with the unit coming to life immediately after installing the batteries in the 2 sensors and the base unit. Each sensor requires two AA batteries and the base unit unit requires three AA batteries. A total of 7 AA batteries are required. I installed Lithium batteries in the sensors as they have a broader operating temp range than alkaline batteries (i.e. good down to -63F). The base unit provides min and max temps in a 24 hour period which is quite informative. The base unit has magnets if you want to attach it to the exterior of the fridge or a pop up stand if you want to place it on top of your fridge, or it can be mounted on a wall. Very convenient. The only down side is that the suction cups for the sensors don't work. The suction cups popped off the wall of the refrigerator and freezer so I just have the sensors laying flat on the shelf. The unit is well worth the money I paid for it and I highly recommend it. In my case I set the temperature setting for the refrigerator to a higher setting and made sure the fr4eezer door was not left inadvertently open with temperatures confirmed by the Acu-Rite monitor as -1 F for the freezer and +37 F for the refrigerator. Perfect.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable independent temperature monitoring, but bulky sensors
*by S***H on October 8, 2026*

i purchased this AcuRite thermometer system to independently test several portable medication refrigerators, and it has been one of the most useful purchases in the entire process. The system includes two wireless sensors, allowing me to monitor temperatures in separate cooling devices without constantly opening them. This was particularly useful because I was testing the coolers in a hot bedroom, with ambient temperatures reaching approximately 80–90°F. I especially appreciate the minimum/maximum temperature history, configurable temperature alarms, and ability to compare actual sensor readings against the coolers' built-in displays. The sensors helped me identify meaningful differences in cooling performance that I otherwise might have missed. My biggest complaint is their physical size. They're quite bulky, especially inside compact cylindrical medication coolers, where a single sensor can occupy a substantial amount of the available storage space. For testing refrigerators, freezers, and larger coolers, they're excellent. For permanently monitoring a very small medication cooler, I would prefer something much smaller. Overall, I'm very pleased with the system. It's straightforward, useful, and gave me considerably more confidence in evaluating my cooling equipment. I would absolutely recommend it for independent refrigerator temperature monitoring.
