I want to address the 2 primary complaints about the product which is the taste and its ability to help with cravings Taste: I'm pretty confused with all the complaints about the taste. It's not amazing tasting but in comparison to the taste of these herbs on their own its much better. For those of you complaining, have you ever smelled or tasted Angelica root on its own? It's pretty unpleasant.This product is a significant improvement. Other people have complained also about its ability to control cravings- it has helped me with this. The common issue that this product solves is over eating due to lingering tastes in your mouth like after you eat something salty you want to counterbalance it with something sweet, but then you ate too much of that sweet thing and you you need something salty again. This product neutralizes your mouth to prevent this problem from happening, and the slight bitterness does seem to discourage me from eating more. As for the heath effects- I have noticed on many occasions that it has helped me digest food better and go to the bathroom easier. This is even with me using 1/2 a tablet to 1 tablet.

These bitters are very high quality. I dissolved the first one on my tongue, and it had a pleasant herbal flavor. As the tablet dissolves in your mouth, it releases the bitterness through your saliva onto your palate and settles there. Only a faint herbal taste remains in my mouth after it is completely gone. I can see how some people might be disenchanted with the taste, but I typically drink strong herbal tea without any sweetener, so I’m not affected. Even though I haven’t used these long enough to see how they will affect my appetite, I can tell you that it has almost immediately affected my cravings as the bitterness creates a suppression to eat, as if the tang makes me disinterested in tasting anything. It kind of has the same effect on drinking things in that it makes everything taste sort of bland. I mainly bought these to aid in digestion, and to stay consistent with my intermittent fasting routine. I think they will be very helpful! Also, the shipping was fast and the packaging is very sturdy! I consider this a great product!

As a Catholic I’m a little annoyed. I love Saint Hildegard, and didn’t feel these lived up. The package was small and expensive for what you get. They are highly unpalatable. I’m not sure how they are supposed to help you fast. Bitters make you salivate to aid digestion. These made me hungry and did not help noticeably with digestion.

Nice product! I occasionally take these after meals to help distract me from dessert cravings. They won't work on their own, and they won't affect your palate if you decide to go for dessert anyway, but combined with other strategies they can be helpful. I personally like the bitter flavor, but the formula seems to have changed recently. I just received my second pack and they are definitely sweeter than the previous pack. I see all the reviewers saying these are too bitter, but I wish they were more bitter! These are too sweet for fasting, but overall I still like them. An unsweetened version would be amazing!

This product did not work for me!!!!!!!!

I wanted to train myself to fast intermittently, but I am a lover of breakfast so I knew the transition would be difficult. Off and on throughout the years I've relied on prescription/over-the-counter fat-burners and appetite suppressants to fast or aid in weight loss. However, the side effects were always off-putting. I found out about bitters and how they can aid in digestion and suppress appetite and was happy to learn about this product. In my experience, Hildegard's Bitters helps me to fast 18:6, which allows me to wait and have my first meal at 11 AM and final meal by 7PM. I take one tablet in the morning and one after dinner. Taste-wise it reminds me of a bitter, unsweetened herbal tea and it dissolves easily on my tongue. I am happy that I don't have to feel like a prisoner to prescription appetite suppressants anymore. Hildegard has saved me money and I no longer have to worry about the side effects of years past. I am feeling much more hopeful about my overall health, and I'm glad I learned about the benefits of herbal bitters.

I am a sweet junkie and I honestly was really really hoping this product would work.. WELL, IT DOES!! I can not believe it. I have had three tablets so far (suggested 2 tablets before meals) I am fasting so, I have been only chewing one or two a day. I can not say enough. I was thinking that it would cause me to have a bitter taste in my mouth IF i had sweets. But it is even better. I DO NOT EVEN WANT ANY SWEETS. Can you believe it?? Do not feel bad, neither did I. But i am telling you it works. It was nothing for me to eat 2 to 3 Hershey chocolate bars a day. Yes, I love the light Bad chocolate. Dark never really appealed to me. (I hear that is better for us) I must say for the price and the over all flavor was not bad. It has an earthy taste, but it truly was not bad. remember I am a sweet junkie.. and I am very impressed that this really works. I hope if you decided to give it a go, that you find the same satisfaction I have. I will be ordering more and placing on subscription order.

I don't know what people are complaining about. I'm a supertaster and these are barely bitter. I was hoping for a good bitter shudder, but these are barely bitter at all. The mannitol is a laxative, and after two on an empty stomach before dinner, the next morning I trusted a fart I shouldn't have, and came very close to ruining some pants and was almost late for work because of it. Don't waste your money. Even liquor store bitters are more intensely bitter than this. Maybe they watered down the formula because people where whining that their bitters tablets were actually bitter?
