Fantastic copy of a classic!

The media could not be loaded. This translation has good reviews so i bought this one. Just decreased one star because the book ends are uneven. Its not even cut, its like torned at the end. Im not sure if thats supposed to be its design. (See pic) im used to books being clean cut so im not sure if this one is a defect

Made me look into Oliver ready’s other translations she is amazing.

I have read the Constance Garnett translation, the pevear and volokhonsky translation, and now the oliver readyThe garnett translation you should 100% avoid. This translation, however, is the best I have read and a solid improvement over the P&V translation which is somewhat similar to this one.The physical quality of the book is also excellent. It is a paperback but feels almost like a hardback, and it has thick pages and the edges of the paper are really nice. The art is also by far my favorite of any edition

the vivid new translation by oliver ready re-invigorates the dostoyevsky classic...giving it the energy, the intensity and propulsion of a contemporary thriller...I'm hoping mr. ready will do a fresh translation of "the brothers karamazov" as well...i can't evaluate the highly acclaimed translation of "the brothers K" by richard pevear and larissa volokhonsky -- I don't read or speak russian -- but with the exception of the wonderfully worded and perversely comic highlights, I found it heavy going...this rendering of "crime & punishment" by oliver ready thrusts me right "into each moment" -- the grisly, the guilty, the darkly comic and attempts at redemption are all here...again, I hope mr. ready will do dostoyevsky translations...

This comment is only about the cover design - do not buy this edition if you want a decent cover design. The back cover and the back flap are done as cartoons - which make light of the intensity of Dostoyevsky's genius - and the back cover has bad language. Granted that the quotations, including the bad language, are from the book, the cartoon design as a whole is inappropriate to the seriousness of the story itself.I would not have purchased this edition if there had been an image of the back cover and back flap - as there often is for other books - in the "Look Inside" function.I don't know Russian, so I cannot comment on the translation accuracy.
