Great Granny Workout!
I have purchased several "active" wii games to go along with more traditional exercising. I like to do different things on different days so as to not get bored and have EA Active (love it) Gold's Cardio (love it) My Fitness Coach (hate it) Wii Fit (love it) Outdoor Sports (like it) Wii Sports (love it) and Wii Sports Resort (like it). I have wanted to buy a DDR to kick the exercise up a notch and when Amazon had it on a Gold Box I was so happy I bought one and another for a gift. It arrived today and I have played it for at least 1-1.5 hours totay and I LOVE it! I am in my upper 40's and have 60 pounds to lose and this is a great program to add to my "wii fitness" regiment. Even on the very easiest programs it is challenging and after a few songs I start getting pretty sweaty! The last time I had my young'uns to Chuck E Cheese there were a couple of teenagers doing the DDR machine there and they were awesome. I plan to dance and dance and dance my a$$ off and next time I go there I hope to have lost all my weight and get on the DDR machine there and put on a show of my own, ha! The songs are ok, but even the ones I don't know or really like that much don't bother me because I just think the "dancing" keeps me entertained. The mat works really well, very responsive, the game is easy to use, I highly recommend this as a very fun game!

VERY UNHAPPY!!!!
I can not use it with my Wii, It does not fit into any of the ports on my Wii. It will cost me about half of what I paid or it to ship it back AND no one wants to buy it... I am now stuck with a product I can not use!!!!! I am unhappy!!!! I don't have much money to begin with and just wasted my money on this product that does not fit in my system... Unless I can find someone to buy it or Send it back and get shipping paid AND the money I spent on the game, I am stuck with it.

Not a bad way to stay fit
The overall impression of this product is good, however, the timing of the music and the dance steps could have been a little better coordinated in my opinion. I was used to the PS2 DDR Extreme 2 prior to using this one for Wii and feel the PS2 version is better coordinated and flows better overall. I do like the ease of use and feel this Wii product is excellent for those that want to learn or get better at the moves. There are easy to follow instructions built right into the game itself in the "Groove Arena" area. Also, there is an option for hand use to increase the fun and very good for exercising the brain as well. It is a good way to keep your mind sharp while getting fit at the same time. It's easy to play for an hour or more without ever feeling like work. The dance mat that came with the game is not so great. I definitely need to find a better mat. This one doesn't stay in place, although, at first it did until about a month of use and now I think it is possibly too worn. I would not recommend the mat that could with the game.

Good time!
DDR Hottest Party 2 brings hot music and good times into your living room. Its a wonderful way to dance some calories off too! I highly recommend this game. The music is fun and contemporary (w/ a few classic his from the 80s and 90s) and the steps range from the very simple to extreme challenge. Personally this is my first exposure to DDR and even several weeks into having the game I'm only comfortable enough to do the "Basic" level steps. I know this game will keep me interested for a long time to come.

Great concept, Questionable music
I bought this game because it's gotten great reviews, and I wanted something fun that keeps me active, and is fun to play with others. Unfortunately they included some actual music videos in it that are very offensive to me. I want to be able to play all my games with my grandchildren, and I don't want to subject them to that imagery. And you can't simply stop the game if a video comes on and go to another song. You have to turn off the Wii to stop it. If you're concerned about what your childrens' eyes see, this is definitely not the game for you. I'm in the process of trying to contact Konami to see if they will exchange this game for their new Disney version. So far I can't get anyone to answer the phone, but will keep trying. I'll update this post if I'm successful.

First DDR-for-the-console purchase. It was ok... COULD BE SO MUCH MORE
After purchasing my first console DDR - that being Hottest Party 2 for the Wii and playing around with the various things in it, here is what I think. Only 50 songs? Ever since playing on a friend's PS2 DDR (I think it maybe one of the Extreme titles) I felt that it had more songs to choose from than Hottest Party 2. Also, I felt that the song list could use more of the japanese arcade DDR classics and mixes of which I like about DDR - ever since seeing it in arcades as well. It is nice that there is some western songs remixes supposedly for that expanded audience but I felt that there wasn't enough of what made DDR great in the first place. Is it the amount of DVD space the game has compared to the DVD space of the past DDR games for other consoles the reason why more songs haven't been included? *EDIT* The slow songs, I really don't care for. With some of the dance order songs and small groupings, those songs are amongst the mix of it and sometimes messes with the energy I had from the previous songs going into the next. But I guess that somewhat acts as a reprive maybe... Single Player, Double pad mode. After having a taste of it in the arcades, I was hoping that this DDR version would have it (being Hottest Party 2 my first purchase, with that mode it would give me an excuse to purchase the first Hottest Party for the pad and the unlocked songs that Hottest Party gives). But unfortunately, I am reconsidering - putting off that purchase. I like the chibi cute characters. Though there is really only one I would always play with (jun). The dance movements are the same with all the characters and it differs with each song so the dancer characters are mostly cosmetic. Something minor that is appreciated. *EDIT* Also a nice touch, the dance motions of the characters are very fluid and doesn't have that robotic feeling. Looking at the credits, motion capture is to be credited for it, a detail that is also appreciated *end EDIT* There is in-game music videos that occasionally replaces the dancers, but I only noticed three of them and while a break from the 3d dancers, it isnt much for what I seen so far. The amount of stage areas is quite nice but if it is at a sacrifice of having less songs or whatever (I would rather have more songs). I like the Workout modes and having a continuous string of songs going. I also like the group lists in the free play mode too. If there is a way to make your own group list, that option would be complete. I first began the game with the gimmicks turned on, hand markers turned on, and freeze arrows on. By the end of the Groove arena mode, only the hand markers are left on. Those options are nice but for me in the end, distracting. Distracting by meaning I wasn't fully ready to focus on each of the gimmick mechanics along with using my feet and hands at the same time. Sure it adds a bit of a challenge - the cheap way of increasing difficulty in the DDR world of games - and in this sense, its alright. I am just not ready for that yet. I love the Wiimote and nunchuck support and this is by far the biggest reason why I purchased the DDR version for the Wii. However, there shouldn't be sacrifices to all what made DDR great in the first place by trimming a bit of that out. Hopefully the next version would give back that classic arcade feeling of the past DDR games with more of the songs that made DDR great in the first place (the japanese arcade stuff) while also keeping the new concepts of the Wii version (hand motions, dancer models). Not to mention, add back in multiple pads to work together. Cliffs: Hottest Party 2 is an alright game... *EDIT* Heck, its a game that I really enjoy. Could use more of the arcade like songs like past console releases. Would like to see single player double pad mode the next time around if a third game comes. Needs a fix to third party pads working with the game! *EDIT* Apparantly it maybe a problem for some. Reason I stated this is sometime later if I wanted, I would like to upgrade to some better pads so I would like if there is some form of feedback as to what works and what doesn't. Wiimote-nunchuck works well and my main reason for getting it. Dont mind the chibi anime characters but got the feeling some models are Americanized chibi (though there is only one I like which is jun) After reading this [...] It makes sense to have a distinct style for each console release and its appeal... However, I am not all for sacrificing things that makes the game, the whole DDR experience, so great just for the sake of each console. I am not about to go out of my way and purchase a completely different and additional platform just for the sake of getting another similar game that I already have. *EDIT* However being that said. This game is still in my Wii ever eince Amazon delivered this to my door (two weeks now) so I enjoyed it despite some critical words about this game. I do enjoy the overall feel of this game and would recommend for those that want that get up and go feeling to get this game.

buyer beware
I bought this game believing I was on an Australian site and purchased the product with the knowledge that it would work in Australia, however it came from the USA which uses a different format NTSC. I was at no point during my purchase informed either via the web page or the seller that this product would not work in Australia, and subsequently was refused a refund or credit...I have been totally ripped off by Amazon. I and all of my friends/relatives will never purchase anything ever from Amazon ever again. YOU NEED TO LOOK AT YOUR GLOBAL PRODUCT MARKETING AND MAKE FUTURE CUSTOMER AWARE OF THE PURCHASES THEY MAY MAKE FROM COUNTRY TO COUNTRY!!!! VERY DISSAPOINTING!!!
