The Little Prince

First, it amazes me that this book is in so many different languages, and has such a following, but I have never had the inclination to read it until I read The Book Jumper. I loved this book with it's sweetness, insight, and charm. The Little Prince leaves his very small planet that he is from and the flower that he has tended to go on an adventure to learn new things and make friends. He visits several planets, but cannot make sense of them. Each one has a character with an attribute that can often be found in adults and the world. As Exupery has his fun with these characters, the little prince moves toward new adventures. On earth, he meets a pilot that he talks to. The two talk about Earth, his world, and the flower he left behind, whom he misses deeply. In his travels here The Little Prince sees other flowers like his- roses- but realizes that they aren't as special. He also finds a friend in a fox that he tames and grows to love and care for. I found this small book profound in that, at least to me, it reminds us of the things that we care about. The relationships we create are what makes things special and important. He missed his friend the rose so much that he found a way to return to his planet a year after leaving. It reminded me to take time to tend to my own special things, and be aware of the loved ones I have. To allow time for magic, and not take my adult self too very seriously. In this way, though it is written for children, I feel that adults need to reread this too. Plus, it is just a great story. Five stars! Now, this book is so popular that not only did it get translated into 300 languages and has had at least two authors write stories to take place later with The Little Prince. The Little Prince Returns was written by Jean-Pierre Davidts where a shipwrecked narrator finds The Little Prince on a deserted island. Ysatis de Saint Simone (niece of Consuelo de Saint Exupery) wrote one entitled The Return of The Little Prince. There were movie adaptations, stage plays, opera, anime, pop-up books and graphic novels (I have to find this!) It has it's own swag-bags, socks, toys and adult coloring book. Honestly, this is not just a book, it's a following! I am not ashamed to say that I am a bit obsessed. Thank goodness I took the time to read this one. As there is no real adult content (one planet has a drunk), I would say that this book is for everyone. Have you read it?

Lovely' is the word I’d use to describe this MinaLima edition. I’m a huge fan of their work; the care and attention they put into their books is so clear. This version of The Little Prince is simply magical. I highly recommend it!

The Little Prince is a classic novel which i had never read. I purchased this version because I thought that the artwork would draw me in, and enable me to finish the book. Having finished reading the Little Prince, I remain curious as to the reasons why it is considered to be a classic.

If you are debating whether or not you should read this story, please do. Take the time and be in the moment for reading The Little Prince is an experience~ it is a reminder for all of us to remember to be in the moment for life, which is both ephemeral, and beautiful. No amount of words can describe just how beautiful this story is and what an experience it truly is. Don't hesitate any longer dive into the beautiful story of The Little Prince.

I noticed that the reviews seem to be aimed at various different iterations of the story, which I find confusing for buyers. Given that, please be aware that I'm reviewing the book that I bought from this particular listing (pictured). I made the mistake of trusting some of the pictures in a few reviews, thinking that what I was seeing would be in this particular book. Don't get me wrong, I love the illustrations in the book I bought, but I admit to being a little disappointed that I didn't get to see the drawings from certain reviews. Please be wary of photos so that you don't make the same mistake I did. I don't regret my purchase. The cover and illustrations are beautiful. I didn't grow up with the book. Instead, I watched the heck out of the 1974 musical film adaptation, which came on TV every once in awhile in the 80s. It played a huge part in shaping how my young mind viewed the world, morals, ethics, and, more importantly, that never letting go of childlike wonder in adulthood is important. At 44, I still value that ideal. My motto in life has been the fox's main quote in the wheat fields. It's one of my most cherished movies. Given that, I've been looking for a solid edition of the book for years so that I can experience where it all started. Considering how crazy short it is, I look forward to reading it all in less than a day. I'll try to read as slowly as possible in order to absorb everything as intended. This book is a welcomed addition to my bookshelves.

Good story for kids about using imagination;; how things aren't always as they seem. Everyone sees something different when they look up at the stars.

Can you see with your heart? This is a wonderful, entertaining, very readable and mercifully short book. It's practically art rendered in words. The punchline (or at least my take on the book) is simple but worth remembering frequently. Can you see with your heart?

Dieses erstmal 1943 in New York erschienene Kunstmärchen zählt schon lange zu den Klassikern der Weltliteratur. Und das durchaus zurecht, wie ich finde: Den Kleinen Prinzen sollte man gelesen haben, wenn auch nicht zwingender Weise auf Englisch. Ich besitze ebenfalls eine deutsche Ausgabe, die mir persönlich auf Grund der größeren sprachlichen Nähe besser gefällt. Die englische Übersetzung habe ich als Geschenk für einen englischsprachigen Bekannten gekauft, der das Buch noch gar nicht kannte. Zur Handlung selbst wurde in den Rezensionen hier schon alles gesagt, zu den berühmtesten Zitaten, die es aus dem Text in die Alltagssprache geschafft haben, zählt unter anderem wohl: "Man sieht nur mit dem Herzen gut. Das Wesentliche ist für die Augen unsichtbar." Auch wenn das natürlich absolut zutrifft, sollte man das Buch kaufen, gleich in welcher Sprache. Und immer wieder lesen, für neue Denkansltße, Einsichten, oder einfach, weil man sich selbst verändert hat und so immer wieder einen neuen Zugang zu diesem zweifellos zeitlosen Text finden kann. Eines jener Bücher, das ich nicht missen möchte, also eine ganz klare Kaufempfehlung.

C'est un petit livre de chevet très enrichissant, qu'on peut ouvrir à n'importe quelle page, de plus il est très court à lire

O livro é maravilhoso! Veio muito bem embalado e chegou antes do previsto, como foi um presente, acabei não tirando fotos, mas vale totalmente a pena e é mais lindo do que poderia descrever.

This book is very special. I bought it for my 3 year old grandson, but his mother says she will put it away for a bit.
