If you are looking for a lightweight, quality heat protectant— then CHI 44 Iron Guard is the perfect solution for you. I have tried many different heat protectants over the years and nothing ever seems to compare to how well this product works for my long, fine hair. I always try to make sure that I protect my hair as much as I can from heat damage, and I’ve noticed a significantly less amount of split ends when using heat tools or styling vs. using no protectant/ other brands. The smell is super pleasant and it goes on very easy. I either spray it about 6 to 12 inches away from my hair and then brush in before using, or I will pump it into my hands and run it through my hair like that. A little goes a long way, and it’s definitely a staple in my hair care regimen. I also like to put it in my hair on sunny days to give it that extra bit of protection from the sun. I find that it keeps my hair feeling soft, and not like there’s any product in it, as well as keeping frizz control down to a minimum when straightening or curling it. I love love love CHI’s hair care products!

I've been using this heat protectant for a while now, and I'm really happy with it. It sprays on evenly and doesn't leave my hair feeling sticky or weighed down. My hair feels softer and looks smoother after I style it, and I've noticed less frizz, too. The scent is really nice without being overpowering. I use it every time before blow-drying or straightening my hair, and it gives me peace of mind knowing I'm protecting my hair from heat damage. I would definitely recommend it if you use hot tools regularly.

Yup. This heat protectant is GREAT. So far, so good, and my hair has little to no damage even though I straighten my curly hair pretty much everyday on the highest heat setting on my straightener. I use this heat protectant, though, and it works wonders. It’s lightweight, and smells sooooo good and fresh that I’ve literally had someone ask me what perfume I’m wearing when I’m not wearing any perfume and this is the only product with the fresh smell that I use. It makes my hair super shiny and glossy, too, and is honestly the perfect product!! The only things I would say are that if you spray too much in one area it will make your hair pretty wet, but it’s quick drying so it’s usually not a problem for me, and another thing is that my hair usually doesn’t hold its shape after I use it (which might also be because of my bad hairspray…). For those reasons, that’s why I am not rating it a 5/5 stars, because although it does the job pretty well, it’s not perfect.

One if the best heat protection you can buy. I love it! So much cheaper through Amazon than buying it at ulta..or tj maxx...you won't be disappointed! Calms my frizz. Makes my hair smooth. Longevity is great. No fragrance. Does what it needs too

If you'd like to smell good in your own like the sweet stuff, I think this one smells more like perfume. Soft for your hair, when somebody comes up to you and they smell you. This one is the perfect one. You could be at the gym

I have fairly thick hair, and unfortunately, this product didn’t work particularly well for me as an overall styling product. It made my hair look greasy even though it didn’t actually feel oily, which was a little strange and definitely not the finish I was hoping for. I also didn’t notice much improvement in curl definition, shine, or frizz control. The fragrance is pleasant and it does smell good, but the biggest benefit for me was the heat protection. I felt comfortable using it before hot tools, and it was reliable for that purpose. You definitely have to be careful with how much you apply. Using even a little too much can make the hair feel stiff and almost crunchy, similar to what happens with hairspray. With a lighter application, it performs much better. Pros: * Good heat protection * Pleasant scent * Reliable when used sparingly * Works well before hot tools Cons: * Can make thick hair look greasy * Didn’t improve my curl definition * Minimal difference in frizz control * Didn’t add noticeable shine * Too much product leaves hair stiff and crunchy * Easy to overapply Overall: For me, this works better as a heat protectant than an all-in-one styling product. The heat protection is good and the scent is nice, but I didn’t get many of the other styling benefits I was hoping for. The biggest thing is to use a very small amount because applying too much can quickly leave the hair looking weighed down and feeling stiff.

I am 50+ years old with ethnically mixed hair. I use this ChI 44, almost exclusively on my bang. No matter how else I am wearing my hair, I am always stuck with the bang my brother "helped" me cut, when I was 5 years old. And with my hair texture, frizz, just frizz. It used to just either be puffy BIG BANG frizzy, or tight and drawn up frizz. SO, now that I found this, if I go out of the house I use it. It protects my hair from the heat & definitely helps it, to straighten in one flat iron pass . I have also, since I began using this about 6-7 years ago, been able to turn way down both my flat iron, and curling wand temperature. I spray some on my bang, comb through, hit it with some heat to detangle; then after it is straight i put a bit more CHI 44, in my hands(this is why the pump was helpful) & lightly apply to my bang. I pull my wand or flat iron through again, this time I curl it under, like a Bob, and I then turn it under; and immediately unplug the device, hold it curled, for however long my arthritic shoulder will let me, then toss it into a large open roller. Lastly, if possible, and as quickly as I can I blast it with cool air (usually the car A/C because I am usually doing this on the way to the doctors, or wherever I am going). Then I leave the curler in till I get where I am going, but 10 minutes usually does the trick. Even as i am typing this, i can't believe after all these years of hair struggles, I have what can be called a system or a routine. I have medical limitations, so I don't do my hair to leave the house every day. So, routing doesn't quite fit. This works better than anything ever has. When I am able to do steps using the CHI 44 guard, heat, and a curler, my bang drops from the curler & it is "fresh blowout bouncy". I am also sure it helps fight humidity etc. So, I am giving it 5 stars. With me health, and medications, I am always hot and humid and eventually my hair does frizz. But with age, I have come to realize, that for me, I care far more about my appearance upon my entrance then my departure. I do not think people pay as much attention to my flaws, as I worry about. And if they do, it's probably within the first few minutes of seeing me. So having a good bang entrance has really pleased me. Now I like i can throw the rest of the birds nest I call hair into a ponytail and get to enjoying a day out of the house. Lastly the smell, i am very sensitive to smells. This smells like "heat protection" it has the smell a good thermal protection shampoo or conditioner has. Not pleasant, but not sickening. Also, it does not linger. If it stayed I would not recommend it, but it fades quickly. My husband however did comment a few times in the closed car. I usually spray it before I leave the house, then heat straighten it, in the car etc. So, it is when I go to spray the tiny bit on my hands, before curling it under, that it bothers him. That is why I got a pump to try. It seems to work as well as the aerosol version, with the added benefit, that one quick pump into my hand doesn't fill the car with the scent the way aerosolizing it does/. I like having both pump and can. Recently, I started using a few spritzes from the hairline back a few inches into my pulled back hair. I hadn't tried this, in all the years since i found it, because i have neck problems, I am hesitant to use any kind of holding products for fear of having difficulty washing them out. This has not been a problem, leaves no flaking residue behind. And it does keep my ponytail neat. The can is quicker for this, but the pump works the same. I have used the iron guard with assistance, to help when straightening my whole head after shampoo. It was great. But, I have not tried this with the pump. I will update if I do. This product has helped me so much, I will keep eye out for any questions about it, that i can answer. Good luck if you are trying it for the first time.

I did a research of heating protection and this is one of the best that really protect your hair leaving a layer on it. Not leaving any greasiness on the scalp

Should’ve bought the bigger one. But this size is good to carry on the plane. My old bottle got confiscated at the airport
