Very happy so far
I have been using this keyboard and mouse for a while now, and I don't have any complaints. I am used to the split-keyboard design from Microsoft's earlier ergonomic keyboards, so the curve of this keyboard's layout was a natural transition for me. Since the keys aren't split and are curved less than the older ergo models, I would expect this layout to also work well for people who are used to the straight layout of traditional keyboards. There *will* be a transition period where it will feel awkard typing with the new key positions, but this transition was much quicker for me than my previous move from straight keys to the split-keyboard layout.Since it is a media keyboard, the mouse functions are built into the keyboard allowing you to use the keyboard instead of the separate mouse to move your cursor. I don't use this feature much--I tend to actually use the laser mouse. It does look like it would work well for people controlling their media center from the couch. The electro-static touch technology option for the keyboard cursor is fun to play with but not very accurate. As a dedicated desktop computer setup, however, the separate laser mouse is much better suited to quick and accurate movements.Battery life seems very good. I don't always leave the mouse on its charger, but I've never had it tell me it was low and needed a recharge. The keyboard actually comes with standard batteries and not recharables, but I'm sure it would work with rechargable batteries. It just won't recharge the keyboard batteries while they are in the keyboard. I haven't had to replace them yet, but I wouldn't think the keyboard would eat batteries very fast.As a left-hander, I'm happy to see the ambidexterous mouse. It is very comfortable for me in either my left or right hand. My previous wireless desktop set from Microsoft, the Wireless Optical Desktop Pro, included a right-handed ergo mouse that just didn't work well for left-handers.The slim design of this new Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 is very cool and definitely makes my desk look mush less cluttered. I'm very anxious to see the 8000 model with the backlit keys. I may end up getting it for home and transferring my 7000 to my work desk.Overall, I'm very happy with this keyboard/mouse combo. The Bluetooth technology works great; the keyboard is very small and lightweight but still big enough to type like a full-sized keyboard; the mouse is simple, elegant, and accurate; and the keyboard's built-in multimedia features are very well thought out.I can't really test how well it is suited for gamers, but for normal computer users or multimedia users that control their music and video from a PC, the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 is a great choice.

Good, but not Great
I bought this setup as a replacement for my second Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000. On both of the 6000's, the space key broke/died/quit and rendered the keyboard virtually unusable. As a result of the many positive reviews, I went ahead and got this one.It is a good set, however, I am disappointed. Yes, the numbered keys on the right hand side are gone. And yes, the F keys are also gone, replaced by touch sensitive pads. These things are somewhat annoying, but what really bothered me was the lack of a calculator key. I can't tell you how many times I would use that button when I needed to add or subtract something quickly. That being said, the functionality of this keyboard is very good, but if you are a previous owner of a Laser Desktop 6000, this keyboard will be hard to adjust to. The keyboard itself is slanted somewhat differently in that you feel the keys have been moved to the right of the keyboard. I can not get the "hang" of placing my fingers in the appropriate spots yet, even after using the keyboard quite a bit in the last week. The blue labels above the F keys are very difficult to read, making late night computing difficult if you need those keys.I will say the built in mouse is nice. I used it on several occasions and enjoyed this function. The Media Center key worked, as did all of the other buttons. But, as I mentioned before, it is a tough transition from one keyboard to this one.The bottom line is I am going back to another Laser Wireless 6000.

Incredible Keyboard and mouse
I was looking for a replacement for my old logitech mx3200 wireless desktop (very bad decision for me), keys start to get very hard to press and uncomfortable, and I wanted a very comfortable and of course wireless desktop. I searched between logitech stuff, and just dinovo desktop set seems a good answer for my problem with no risk that keys get locked again, but it's a very expensive one. So I start to look for options on microsoft.I'm not a microsoft's software believer (Windows Vista is still a complete trash), but the reviews told me that microsoft's harware doesn't have all problems that software does.Another of my requirements was a bluetooth connection. I recently bought an Asus G1S, so I wanted to use the G1S's bluetooth capabilities. So, I took a look on Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000, 8000 is very expensive, and I always use rechargeable batteries, so no problem with that (you know what I mean). Price was right for a bluetooth keyboard with 7000's characteristic, and also Amazon's price has a % off. I finally took my decision and I bought it.It has some nice characteristics:- It's a flat keyboard, like a notebook, it's very soft and comfortable.- It has an ergonomic curve, very soft. It takes just a bit to get used with it.- Sensitive F keys, these are not normal buttons, you just need to move your finger over the key and that's all. Some reviews says that they are very sensitive, just be careful.- At right side there are the normal multimedia buttons (volume, mute, play, back, etc).- It has a gorgeous built in mouse, its simply fantastic for me, at right you have right and left mouse's buttons, at left you have a touchpad, it's very cool.- No independent numpad, it's not a problem for me.- Mouse is a laser mouse, very precise. I miss logitech's mouses because they hand form, but the mouse its ok. It could be better.- Mouse uses one battery, keyboard uses four batteries.- Not for gamers of course. I'm waiting for Starcraft 2, so I'll see this later.Installation was very fast. Bluetooth conection works very well, mouse uses no paskey and keyboard can use any passkey.Shipping as always great and fast from Amazon. Thank you once again.
