First off, I am joking, my mother has never shaved my back. But this product really has so far solved the annoying problem of reaching the hard to reach areas of my back. I do not have a lot of back hair, but enough to where I know my girlfriends do not find it sexy. I have used it once only (and I will report back with more good and bad things about it) and it certainly did a great job and I was able to get the hair off leaving my back nice and smooth. It took a bit of learning to figure out how to get all the right angle. One thing I initially did wrong was "choke up" like a baseball bat, this felt like the natural way to hold the shaver, but it made for less contact with the razor blades to the back. Once I started holding it by the handle at the end, I realized the razor was starting to hit the sweet spot/angle to where it was actually taking off the hair. I used a Aquasential Easy Lotion Applicator and this made it so much easier to apply the shaving cream to my back. I highly recommend purchasing the applicator as well. I used Barbasol soothing aloe shaving cream and find it superior to more the more hip Edge, Fusion's or other expensive shaving creams with ads on television. Barbasol's the least expensive yet creates a nice thick fluffy cloud of cream, rather then a stringy pasty gel that needs to be rubbed into a lather. The key to the Back Shaver is the plastic hole that you stick the razor in. It held the razor inside in a sturdy manner. Any looseness from this part of the shaver and you might as well be duct taping your razor to a cut in half broom handle. It wont work. But after about ten minutes of fudging with it, I felt I had a pretty good handle and control of the Shaver and was able to hit all the areas and feel when the razor was making good contact. If it starts giving me any problems in the near future I will definitely repost, but for now, I highly recommend the shaver and it has solved a very annoying and frustrating problem of reaching those hard to reach areas.

tl;dr: If you shave your back (or trim it, or whatever), you should get this. It cuts down on shaving time, improves reach, and improves comfort. HISTORY: I'm a fairly small guy without too much muscle, so I have a pretty good ability to reach my back with a regular razor anyway. There is, however, always this one area in the middle of the back I can never quite seem to get very well - consider that the more you contort your body to reach back there, you're altering the shape of your back by flexing your muscles, which doesn't create the smoothest surface to shave, and the angle of the razor head isn't going to be ideal either. Here is where the Razorba is stellar. By creating a long arm, you do not need to contort, and you can be more specific about the angle of the razor head against your back. It saves a lot more time and headache than I really anticipated. ALTERNATIVES: If you're considering this versus something like a Mangroomer, just get this. I have had both, and the Mangroomer had trouble maintaining charge, was more expensive, was loud, and you had to have redundant infrastructure and use multiple techniques on your back. With this you can start shaving the reachable areas with a razor, and then stick the same razor in the Razorba and complete your task. COST: Does it seem like a lot of money for what it is? Yes. But not when you consider how much shorter and more comfortable your back grooming experience will be. Are you only going to shave your back a few times? No. Are there any moving parts that are going to break? Not that I can tell. The cost-per-use will be so small in such a short amount of time you'll kick yourself for not getting it sooner. RAZOR COMPATIBILITY: I use Harry's razors (if you haven't checked them out, go to their website. They're cheap, like dollar shave club, but prettier) and the plastic handle fits in the Razorba perfectly. It is easy to put in and take out. BONUS: Since the Razorba cuts down the time and effort to shave, I do it more frequently, which means a nicer looking back more of the time.

I bought the Razorba War Hammer specifically because it claimed to fit the Fusion Power, my preferred razor. But when the instructions state to remove the battery cover and battery, the "power", then you're basically left with only a Fusion handle and an over-priced razor blade. So while my use so far is with an unpowered Fusion Power, I am looking for another style razor. Any review that claims this doesn't work isn't reviewing this item, they're reviewing the razor they chose to use. The Razorba is only an extension so that you can get your razor, whichever one you prefer, to all the areas of your back. And for that it is successfull. Even after shoulder surgery that has limited my range of motion, I am able to reach every inch of my back with the Razorba. I've done waxing before, and my back always breaks out afterwards, and within a couple months I look like I need it again. With this I can shave as often as I want to, my back is not breaking out so I can do it a day or two before going to the beach without worrying about how I'll look, and I like the feel of shaving better than waxing. The Razorba itself is a solid piece of injection molded plastic with a flexible insert to hold the razor. My Fusion Power, with the end cap and battery removed of course, was mounted securely. There was no concern about it falling out or rotating in the handle. Knowing now that it doesn't actually fit my razor the way Gillette designed my razor to be used, I think the War Hammer is over priced. The other 2 cheaper models are probably just as good, but more limited in the types of razors you could use. But for its design, ability to perform its intended purpose and comfort of use, it is a great product. My best advice is to pick your razor and then get the cheapest Razorba for that style handle.

I just received this unit today and I am thoroughly pleased with the purchase. I have had laser removal done on back hair in the past. I originally went with this method because I thought it was permanent (it is not, although regrowth is lighter). It was also expensive and painful in areas. I often compared it to someone snapping a rubber band against your skin. Because of financial constraints the past few years, I have not had the laser treatment and was looking for a lower cost solution as summer is approaching and I boat with friends almost every weekend. I had considered the Bakblade, but was not crazy about the cost of the replacement blades. I liked the idea of this unit as it seems to accept almost any disposable shaver. It came with a small instruction sheet, with recommendations about showering first, etc. I figured I would just try it out on a small area to see how it worked and finish it later. I used no lotion or shaving cream (it does say on the instruction sheet that some people prefer to shave dry). So I got in front of the bathroom mirror and along with a hand mirror gave it a try. I used a Bic twin blade with a lubricating strip. Only reason is that type happened to be in my bathroom closet. The unit did come with one wide blade Razorba shaver, but I wanted to try the standard disposable. My back hair had some length as it has not been lasered in about 3 years, although I think it has thinned out from the laser treatments. The hair came right off. I cleaned the hair out of the razor frequently because of the length. I had only planned to just give it a quick try, but since it was working so well I just continued. I am going to say it took me about 20-25 minutes to remove the hair. Obviously, others may take longer. Hair on my back was thinner and kind of wispy and that may be why. I did find out that it was easier for me to do my lower back without the handle as it was very accessible with my hand behind my back. I do plan on going the whole route with shaving cream, etc. next time, but I am very pleased with the results of just shaving dry.

I had high hopes for the Razorba back shaver, as the concept of easily shaving your own back is very appealing. While it does technically work and holds a standard razor securely, the reality of using it effectively on your own back is much harder than it looks. The main issue is the ergonomics and maneuverability. Getting the right angle and pressure, especially for areas like the lower back or shoulders, is incredibly awkward. I found myself contorting in strange ways, and even then, I struggled to achieve a consistent, smooth shave without missing patches or feeling like I was going to nick myself. It requires a lot of patience and some serious flexibility. On the plus side, the handle is long and feels sturdy enough, and it grips the razor well. When you can get it in the right spot, it does allow the razor to do its job. However, the sheer difficulty of reaching and seeing all areas of my own back made the process frustrating and time-consuming. Ultimately, it's not a bad product in terms of design, but its practical application for solo back shaving is limited by human anatomy. If you have someone to help you, it might be a five-star tool. But if you're flying solo, be prepared for a challenging workout and potentially uneven results. It gets three stars because it's functional, but far from easy to use.

Since there are no competing products for this that I know of, they can charge $30 for a piece of (heavy duty) plastic and you'll be happy about it. You stick your razor in a rubber holder that's inside the plastic. You just jam it in there; the instructions tell you not to twist it. Unless you had a really thick razor handle, I think this would work with just about any razor you have. You need to jam it in there good, because a loose razor won't perform well. The angle might be hard to master, as your razor will have some curve to it. I found that I got better results going under my arm rather than over my head. As far as shaving cream goes, I'm not very hairy on my back at all, just a few thin groups of hair to eliminate, and I found just using water worked okay. The shaving cream can make it hard to tell where you need to shave, and your back isn't like your face, where you have to be super delicate. Maybe really hairy guys would have to use shaving cream, but they'd probably be shaving everywhere, so trying to target a certain area wouldn't be as important to them. Overall, I'm glad I got it, but if there was a competing product that was cheaper and seemed worthwhile, I'd definitely check it out. EDIT ON JAN 2015: I never used this thing. It was a waste of money. I got the bakblade last week, and it is a miracle worker. Much better than this Razorba.

Been a user of this thing for over a year now and have worked out what works for me. First off, as has been noted by a previous reviewer, if you have anything more than light growth/stubble it will be difficult for a razor to get that off without a lot of effort....think about trying to use a Mach3 razor to get rid of a beard....you wouldn't do it without first trimming the beard. Same thing applies for me and others who don't want to braid their back hair. You need to trim your hair down to what a razor can handle. What I have done, and works the best for me, is to attach a Wahl Groomsman to it with masking tape....bear with me folks. MacGyvering it has worked very well and is only needed when I neglect my shaving regime and the growth gets to much for the razor. Just remove the razor, and strap on the groomsman with some masking tape...doesn't take long at all and the masking tape is easy to tear and remove when done. What is great is the angles still work. Once the hair length has been knocked down by the groomsman then it is shower time. I have a routine that works good for my back...results may very :o) I don't use shaving cream, it was always to difficult to get a good covering and water on my back would eventually dilute the cream. What I use it Dove Unscented Moisturizing Body Wash. I just squirt that stuff all over my shoulders and upper back and work it vertically down the spine with the Razorba and then branch out from there. The body wash provides slippy/slidy razor lubrication...no nicks. Then do horizontals from the spine to ribs...repeat as necessary. The Razorba won't do all the work for you, but it gives you the angles you need to get access to all of your back.

Honestly, the Razorba suprised me when it arrived. It's much heftier than I expected. It's really thick, so it fits well in the hand without slipping around, even when you grasp it along portion of the handle without the finger grips. Mine came with a disposable razor included, which, again I wasn't expecting, and is a nice little perk. I've used it a couple of times since purchase, once with the included razor and once with my Gillettte Mach 3. Both times worked very well, but I'll admit that my back hair is thin and sparse, so you might want to take that into account. I would definitely follow the advice of others here, in that taking a little time to practice (preferably with the covered razor inserted) beforehand is a huge help. Otherwise, you could really gouge your back. And you definitely want to use it both pulling up from over the shoulder and pulling down from around the side as, at least in my case, hair on the back tends to grow at rather random angles. Also, as someone else mentioned, be sure to pull it away from your back when moving to the next spot because you can really make a nice slice with the razor if you aren't careful. The Razorba really worked well for me. The razor fits in the grip well and doesn't move around (make sure that you are getting the correct one for your razor). By the time I was finished, my back was smooth and hairless. Given that my back hair is so fine, I don't see myself needing to do this much more than once a week, if that, but it works REALLY well and I'm glad that I purchased this instead of any of the more expensive back hair removal options here on Amazon.

You will need to use the recommend razors. I haven't got an over hairy back just patches of black and white fluff. Having said that this reaches all of my back. It leaves your back feeling great when the hair has gone. The only problem i have is how to get shaving cream on my back now. Lol Use it about 1 every two months. Strong well made product. Girlfriend can't be bothered to help you do you back use this and dump her :)
