SUSPENSION: Kubitsuri High School - the Nonsense User's Disciple (Zaregoto Series)

Book is a bit on the shorter side, which I didn't realize because I didn't bother checking the info before ordering. Not that it mattered, as a fan of the series I was excited for book 3.Translation felt a bit different, I heard Vertical's translation of the first two books isn't as good as the original translation, but I'll take whatever we can get. As for the story itself, it was pretty fun. I preferred the first two but this mystery still had some fun twists in it. And I don't want to give anything away but it toys with the mystery genre in some fun ways, albeit not to the degree of Kubishime Romanticist.But let's be real, Kubishime set the bar super high and few twists are ever going to match the impact of that one.The action scenes were a bit different this time around. While books 1 and 2 had fights in them, they were fairly normal battles with punching and kicking and knives and stuff. This one felt a lot more anime with villains taking on names like Zigzag and using improbable weapons, it felt different but it was still fun. And we get to peek a bit more into the main character's past.

Interesting mystery novels by one of my favorite Japanese authors! It's definitely my least favorite of those I've read, but that's more a comment on the series quality asa whole rather than on this individual book, as it's still worth the buy if you're a fan of the first two books.If you havn't read the first two, then I recommend you do if you're either (A) a fan of the mystery genre and definitely if you're (B) a fan of Nisioisin.

Compared to the other two, this volume is on the shorter side. But that's not because nisioisin cut any corners. The story this time's a bit more straightforward compared to the other two. The plot just happens to take less time to occur and be completed. Still, an amazing story and if you enjoy the Zaregoto series, you'll find this one enjoyable.

Entertaining book, well written, well translated. The art is sparse, but adds to the character descriptions. Another engaging story by Nisioisin.
