Got this razor as a replacement for my old razor which I lost in a hotel. It was a Lexington razor with Gillette blades from the art of shaving - fortunately received as a gift but commanding a $125 premium... Well this razor beats it in all aspects. It is all metal and has a very good heft, which feels great in the hand and does not slip thanks to the hashed pattern on the metal handle. It cleans well with a rinse, and holds my favorite Gillette blades perfectly. I am 5"10 with medium hands; the grip feels secure and I've never cut myself in 2 months of ownership. Best of all is the construction: if you shave in the shower your razor will likely fall to the ground a few times; my old art of shaving razor actually broke with the blade piece that grabs the smooth handle that came off after the shock of falling down - while the art of shaving store replaced the handle for free with their good customer service, this one is very sturdy and will survive a few falls with no problem. In short:Pros:- sturdy construction; will not break after the occasional fall in the shower- nice heft and feels good in the hand with just enough weight and length- good grip on the metal handle with the criss cross pattern; will not slip- perfect fit for my favorite Gillette blades- a fraction of the overpriced Art of Shaving razor handlesCons:- none that I can think of...

Time to replace the expensive handles from The Art of Shaving!
For years i've used a heavy razor handle that I purchased at the Art of Shaving... FOR WAAAAAY TOO MUCH MONEY! I finally dropped it in the shower one too many times and broke the base. After a few different tries, this is the handle I ended up with. Great price and great quality. Only drawback is that every now and then, the handle will unscrew from the blade. Not a big deal, just inconvenient sometimes.

The wrong way to present a "Personal Use Item"
I received it in a cardboard box that had a glued paper seal on each end. Unfortunately, the seal on one end had been cut clear through and the seal on the other end was just flapping around, unattached. The razor was not enclosed in a plastic bag, as one would think such an item would be, and the razor cartridge was already inserted into the razor. The blue strip on the Gilette Fusion blade was dirty with tiny bits of debris. So, an item that is meant for personal use appears to have been unwrapped and possibly used prior to arriving at my house. That's a shame, because the razor, itself, has plenty of heft and appears solid and well made. Unfortunately, I can't accept this from a company that shows little regard for the way their product is packaged and pays no regard to one's health.

Shave with dignity
I don't like the cheap-looking generic razor holders that remind me of the checkout aisle of the grocery store. I don't understand why Gillette and the other companies expect us to feel good about buying their expensive razors while using their cheap ugly handles. If you want an upgrade but don't want to spend Art of Shaving prices, I think this is a good step up.As compared to some other reviews, I didn't find the handle too long or too heavy. The mechanism is a good replica of the original in terms of pivot and motion. I operated them side by side and didn't see a difference. I didn't feel a difference in razor operation in shaving either.I'm a fan of these razor blades. I've tried cheaper ones. Harry's make beautiful razors, but they don't shave as well for me as these. I switched back, but found it hard to leave Harry's much nicer looking and feeling razors behind. If Harry's comes up with a pivot razor head, I will try them again.Until then I've got my "Frank Shaving" (.com) razor handle. It comes nicely boxed as you can see in the photos. The box looks like real leather.Get one before they get sued for patent infringement!

Not what I expected
I am revising my review previously posted. The seller contacted me based on my comments. The blade handle that I reviewed was a newer model which I returned. After contacting me they offered to ship me one of the original design at no charge and I am much happier with this one. The handle is longer and easier to hold and use. The mechanism to attach the blade is not extended like the newer model. This is what I was expecting when I ordered. Kudos to GBS for standing behind their product and caring about their customers. They went the extra mile.Precious review follows. Certainly not a heavy weight handle as advertised. The handle is not really longer but with the mechanism to attach, the overall appearance is that the razor is long but the handle is the same length as those that come with the Gillette blades. The slight curve to the standard Gillette handle is, in my opinion, more comfortable to grip. Overall not worth the cost.

Hollow and cheap
Not solid metal. Light. Not worth the money.

Nice looking but does not have much weight to it.
Great looking handle at a reallly low price. Unfortunatly for me, I was looking for something with some weight to it. I had purchased something similar for my Mach 3 and it is at least twice as heavy as this one.Curiously, the main review I saw that convinced me to pick this one up had shown a large, leather like packaging. This thing came in a tiny carton wrapped in tissue. I have no idea if this was a different item than described. In any event, it’s going back as I want something heavier.2 good points- it comes with an actual fusion blade- it really looks great for the $$.

Very nice replacement handle
I don't like to review stuff until I have used it for awhile. Got this handle a little over a month ago and really like it. Would have given 5 stars except that I noticed the upper part of the razor felt a bit loose. I'm not a perfectionist, well maybe a little, so I unscrewed the handle and saw that there were two little screws holding the upper part on. Got a small screwdriver and gave a little twist and boom nice and tight again. Took the little screws out and put a drop of thread lock on. Reassembled and now I'm really happy again. Except for the screws loosening this is a very nice replacement for the original handle. A little heavier and the ball thingy is really good.

Lasts 8 months
Bought this 8 months ago. The weight is nice, the feel is great. It was a smart handle I was expecting. However, the screw that holds it all together is made of a material that rusts out. Given that this product is going to get wet every day, this is utterly ridiculous. After 8 months, this product needs to be thrown away. Two stars because it is a nice handle, for a short period. I expected better for $90
