Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Carrier

This is a great product from Thule. It is fiberglass, so it's light, and it is so quiet on the highway. It also makes the "Soccer Van" look pretty cool. I would highly recomend it.

Very impressed!! Arrived in perfect condition. Fits well on my 2016 highlander, and installation is idiot-proof. My husband put this on our car and installed it with almost no help from me. It can hold a lot of gear, and I'm glad I didn't buy the XXL box. It is very aerodynamic and produces only a very low hum/whistle that can not be heard over the radio. I've owned older Thule boxes and this is by far the sturdiest, easiest to install, and most aerodynamic.

The product came when promised. It has a slight distortion on one corner... probably because of the expandable packing and being shipped through the heat of Phoenix, Arizona.The carrier is fairly easy to install. My installation was on a Honda Odyssey van with a dealer installed roof rack. The supplied clamps worked great. The cover flexes a bit and can be a little difficult to get open, but that is about the only drawback. When you close the cover you have to make sure all the latches are engaged, otherwise it will not lock. I think that is a good safety feature.Factory instructions say a maximum speed of 80mph, but we hit 85 a few times going through Arizona with no problems. I noticed some effect from crosswinds while on the highway and fuel economy was down about 6%.The box can hold a good amount of gear and it really freed up space inside the van during the trip. Storage of the unit takes a bit of room, but I rigged up a simple mounting system ($30) attached to our garage ceiling rack so it can be installed by one person.

Took a cross country road trip recently and bought one of these. Its amazing! No wind noise. No noticeable gas mileage difference. We drove through torrential rains and nothing was damp or moist. Its so nice its currently on the Subaru for weekend use! I cannot recommend enough.One thing to note though... Do not order this if you are on a deadline. The company Amazon uses to deliver this is beyond crap. I had to return it during transit and buy from the dealership because they changed arrival date by 4 days.

Our existing carrier, not a Thule, was too long for our newer vehicle and we were unable to open the rear gate fully without making contact with the window. Because the hatch would not fully open it was easy to hit your head (ouch!). This new Thule Cargo carrier is wider, a bit deeper, opens from either side, and fits the vehicle much better. We can now open the hatch fully and still walk under it. The color, silver gray on top, absorbs less heat than our previous black carrier.What impressed us the most was the way Thule stands behind their product. The carrier was difficult to latch on one side, requiring considerable effort to close. We contacted Thule, they responded promptly. We sent them the requested video of the difficulty and they provide a replacement part that arrived a few days latter. We installed it, but the problem was not resolved. We contacted them again. They sent a new complete replacement cargo carrier. It cost us zero. The Thule support was excellent. The new carrier works as expected, latching easily from either side.We are completely satisfied and can't say enough good things regarding Thule's Cargo Carrier and great customer service.

Great Product. It was installed in 5 minutes with a helper to lift the box. Clamps on very easily and claws lock after knobs spin to lock. Aesthetically the box looks sleek and stylish. Functionally, it hold ALOT of stuff and easy to shut and lock. Driving wise did not notice any wind noise but does not mean it doesn't create any either. I installed on Thule cross bars and ordered the Large for Jeep Renegade. Excellent purchase for me! Hope this helps anyone interested in the product.

Excellent car top carrier with tons of room. You need to be careful loading it because there is so much room that you can easily overload the cross bars. The downsides are that it really takes two people to put it on the car without scratching the car because it is very heavy (approx. 70 lbs with hardware) and it didn't quite clear the tailgate on my 2017 Honda Pilot in it's most forward position. I could still open the gate all the way but it rubbed slightly. I don't quite understand why it rubbed when everything I read said there should be plenty of clearance. I double checked the installation and everything was correct and the clamps were in their most rear position.. The clamps work very easily and are great. I used the carrier for a 1000 mile trip through some bad weather without any leaks. I did pack pillows and such in garbage bags to be sure they stayed dry but found out it wasn't necessary. I'll repeat myself; don't overload the carrier, it is very easy to do. If you don't have a lot of light stuff to pack a little smaller carrier might make more since since it would be lighter. A broken cross bar in the middle of a long trip could be a real problem.

Looks so good on my daughters Lexus. She’s got a black car, and this shiny black cargo carrier suits it like a glove. Whoop de do, and by ‘do’ I mean, Load it up, man, and hit the road!It was just before Christmas, and they have a one year old. I was meeting them to spend a week together with family and they suddenly realized there could be a problem fitting everything in their car because of the stuff that comes with a baby and Christmas (gifts, food, winter clothing, camera equipment, cooking supplies, baby gear) This cargo carrier arrived just in time, as promised, went on easily, was very much appreciated for its capacity and ease of use - actually it’s rather a necessity now, with the little one, and when I saw them pull in with it on top of the car, I thought it looked absolutely slick. Perfect. Quality. More than useful. Yay!
