Key-BAK Quick Release Side Slide, Pull Apart Key Chain Accessory with 2 Split Rings

I bought my first KEY-BAK on the recommendation of a friend. I'd just gotten a new car--with a fob instead of a key--and so asked her how she dealt with valet parking. She answered by sending me the KEY-BAK Amazon link. I ordered one--and found it worked perfectly, letting me easily detach the fob from my house keys and then hand the fob to the valet. I was so happy with it, I ordered one for my husband. When that order got lost in the mail, the company was very responsive and sent me a replacement. And then, when the lost one did arrive, they told me to keep it as an apology for the inconvenience. Great customer service!

The key chain is simple and does what it is supposed to do. The paint is wearing off after just a couple months of use, but I don't mind. The main thing I like about it is that it has a swivel head so you can easily use the key that is attached without having to flop around the rest of the attached keys. Also, the release mechanism is simple, very easy to use, and feels sturdy. I have no fear of the release being opened by putting keys in my pocket, and I also don't need to worry about fighting to open it. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

So far this keychain has worked out well. The only thing that I will say is that the finish did not hold up very well.

My first impression was "wow, this thing feels built like a tank". It's very obviously solid steel... the weight of it alone gives that fact away. The spring mechanism for the quick release has the perfect amount if tension... not so easy that a bump will open it, but not so hard that you sit there struggling with it. I like the fact that the top portion (non-releasing part) rotates. Overall, I love the quality and look of this item. I can't say weather or not the black coating will/will not scrape off easily, but I'm not using it as a key ring. It most likely will be a non-issue one way or the other. Unless I post a follow-up edit to this review, you can safely assume it's functioning soundly.

I hate toting a bunch of keys around with me. Still, I have my car key, house keys, keys to office A, Keys to office B and keys to office C. Offices have keys for the outside and inside. About 30 in all, plus the car FOB, mailbox and front door. Now my car FOB is on one ring, no clip. A very simple, light and pocket friendly device. Office A "outside" clips to FOB, as do B and C "outside doors." A's inside doors clip to outside doors, as do B's and C's. when I'm in office A, I merely clip A's keys to my FOB. I can remove the outdoor keys if I know I'm not in danger of locking myself out. Now I have about 4 keys on my ring at any time. I'm not arguing with the people who have reported problems. Still, I cannot figure out how some of the malfunctions happen. The connector is a solid machined hunk of aluminum and the latch looks to be solid stainless. Is it possible that they received the wrong item? Fix 'em, Amazon! It's hard to rave about a $5 hunk of metal, but I'm raving about this.

I have had several Key-Bak pull aparts over the years. They have been great. When I was looking for another I found this at Amazon. The first line in the product description says “Made in the USA…”. The second line says “High quality import designed by…”. I took a chance and ordered it. Not surprisingly, I received one clearly marked “mfg in China” This one is clearly not the same quality as my previous ones.

The KEY-BAK is a good keychain but I gave it 3 stars for a couple of reasons. The first reason is the price. Despite the fact that it feels very well built it is still a steep price for what it is. The second reason is because of how long the key chain is. I bought this so that when I am at work I can separate my work keys and personal keys to limit how much is in my pockets. When I am carrying both house and work keys it seems like I am carrying a 7" long set of jingle bells. However, the keychain works as advertised and is very well built. I don't think it will stop working any time soon so for that it is a good product. I would just weight the pros and cons and think about how much you will really use it.

This key chain separates easily with a couple of twists. A great feature. No more messing with hard to remove keys or having to carry two separate key chains. Great idea! It is well made and a great value for the money.

MY OLD ONE FINALLY GAVE UP THE GHOST. THIS NEW ONE IS THE BEST. EASY TO USE, LOVE IT.

Works great! I can separate my house keys with my car keys easily and not have to carry both when not needed. Just what I've been looking for since my other keychain broke... Which was not the same as this but close enough. It hasn't unlatched by itself by accident so I think it's pretty good quality!

This key chain has lasted me a long time and is very functional. It’s nice to be able to take the keys on and off. Unfortunately, the blacks coating has almost completely come off now.
