Shock proof? Magnet proof? Etc.?** A: Waterproof to 3 meters for 30 minutes as I recall. Very sturdy metal case and cover, and the internal parts are packed in by filler (epoxy?), so yes, pretty much shock proof. As for magnets - at least to the same degree as a regular USB 'thumb drive" resists them. I have 2 of them, a 480 MB and a 1 TB unit. Been using the 480 for about 3 years with complete reliability. Based on my personal experience with them, the company I work for has just chosen them to meet new Department of Defense requirements for storage of certain data that leaves a secure area. For the user pin, unlock with the normal pin and unlock button first and wait for the green LED to start blinking. Then hold number 1 and the unlock button until the red LED starts blinking. Re-enter the user pin and press unlock, you will see the green LED and blue LED now. Enter the new user pin and press unlock. You will see the green LED and a moment later the green and blue LED. Re-enter the new user pin again and press unlock. The green LED will show to indicate the process is complete. The admin pin follows a similar pattern but you hold unlock and 0 to put the key in admin mode first, with different LED patterns to show you are changing admin pin instead of user pin.
