The price is low and it actually does a pretty good job. My only complaint is it does create a ball-park lawn mowed effect, so be ready to spend a lot of time sanding that out. I'm sure that comes with the territory with flattening bits due to how they bend the grain based on the direction of bit spin. So far, I've flattened 3 white oak end grain boards all 10 x 11, and 6 walnut end grain boards all 11 x 17, and other smaller things such as coasters and other smaller walnut end grain boards and the bit is still has sharp as the day I got it. You should try slow feed rate and shallow cut first, and then gradually increase the speed rate and depth appropriately.
