M1 Carbine Rear Sight Removal and Installation Gunsmithing Tool

Instead of sandwiching the receiver into the tool it just slides in and 2 screws with plastic covers and the groves that are cut for the recoil spring channel secure it in place. They even included a spacer to safely install the adjustable rear sight I was using.

Easily to use, allowed me to remove, and re-attach the rear sight on my M1 Carbine.

I am an old gunsmith, this is a nice tool for M1 Carbine. This tool will likely last a lifetime. Comes with insert for cast sights, this sure beats having to make your own. Instructions are good but my copy was barely readable this is the only negative

My new A-O M1 carbine shoots to the right (surprise, surprise). The peep was already slightly to left of center, and my brass punch and 2lb hammer could not budge it further to the left (or even to the right, for that matter). Decided to try this pusher, after soaking the sight with WD-40 first and Rem oil second. The receiver would go part way in on one side, and not at all on the other. Filed down the pusher's internal surfaces a bit, and the receiver went in easily. Tried to push the sight further left, but it would not budge. Tried to remove the sight, and it came out smoothly using steady pressure. I applied a triangular file very gently to the left side of the grooves of the sight and reinstalled it. I was able to move the sight until it was flush with the left end of the dovetail without undue force, but the sight is still quite tight. That may be a bit more than necessary, but I know I can move it back if I need to. Very happy with this tool, as I wanted to keep the A-O flip peep but shoot closer to point of aim.

Works great! Just cumbersome to set up. You have to remove the gun from the stock and remove the trigger pack for it to work.
