Great Pump
Great Pump. In have an aquarium up a ladder and in my loft. Doing regular water changes way up there is quite the challenge, hauling buckets of water up and down those narrow steps. With this baby I can drain the water and refill it, all from the convenience of my kitchen sink. It's extremely easy to use and to install.I know python sells these as a replacement part to their complete set, but it was much easier and cost effective to buy this pump, a female adapter and go to the hardware store for the hosing. Cost me about $20 in total; about half the price of the entire set.

Broke while hand tightening, cheap plastic.
I'm leaving a review to see if they will ship me another one or what, but it broke before I could even use it the first time. Idk what kind of cheap plastic this is but if I can break it with my thumb and forefinger then it's unacceptable.EDIT: Amazon sent me a replacement free of charge, but I'm still pretty nervous about over-tightening. It does a good job but I think I'll try to have an extra one on hand, just in case.

Another broken siphon pump
Same piece broke again, not sure why this inner cone isn't brass or why this has to be made out of a plastic that won't accept any glues or epoxies other than Python is trying to rip us off. They could at least sell bags of these inner cone pieces as use-once replacements since that's all they ever seem to last. There has to be something better out there, please let me know if you find it.

Why in the world is this plastic?
Python Aquarium Replacement Pump. It gets 3 stars for being what it says it is and doing what it says it does. However, why in the world is this plastic? We are meant to screw this onto a threaded brass adapter, which means I am going to have to keep replacing this every few months as the sharp brass threads shred the plastic threads in this pump absolutely to BITS, no matter how careful I think I'm being. I love love love my Python, but this one particular part is shameful. I would gladly pay $20 for a metal version that would last forever, then maybe only the gaskets would need occasional replacement. All that said, this appears to be the genuine Python brand replacement part, so if you came here to get it, you're in the right place. A new one of these will solve your faucet-spray-all-over-the-kitchen-no-matter-how-hard-you-tighten-it issue -- temporarily, anyway.

Works as described. Design needs a small improvement
As posted by others, the sink threads wear out due to it being plastic and that portion should be available as a separate purchase. Easiest solution is a quick connect where one piece screws into the Python part and the other replaces the aerator on your sink, thus saving the wear n tear on the plastic threads. Python sells a setup, but the sink part is brass colored and looks tacky. I went to my local big box home improvement store to ensure everything worked together, but the parts are available on Amazon:3/4 in. Faucet Snap Coupler (to Python)1/2 in. Faucet Snap Fitting Adapter (to sink)Screw them into the appropriate part and say done to screwing your python into the sink, wearing out the threads ever again. You don't even notice the sink adapter unless you are looking for it.

Excellent!
To be completely honest, I didn't want to spend a fortune on the python set, so I just bought this part, and added my own water hose. I've had it for about 10 months, and I use it 3-4 times monthly to do water changes for my 80 gallon aquarium. It's gotten alot of use, and stays connected outside, and has held up perfectly! My only complaint is it dribbles a little bit of water when you are using it to send water back in (the closed position), but not enough to be very significant, or reduce any stars. I absolutely love this gadget, and it saves me so much time and energy! If you're still using buckets to change your water like I was, don't even wait, you need this!

It took forever and I hated doing it because it was such a production
This has absolutely changed my perspective on cleaning my fish tank. I used to have to drain the water into 5-gallon buckets and then schlep the buckets to a drain. It took forever and I hated doing it because it was such a production, plus it was often messy, since there were a lot of opportunities for water to splash out.Using this water changer has made cleaning the fish tank almost a hands-off experience. Now I attach this device to a hose with the other end attached to a gravel vacuum, vacuum out the debris and then go sit and wait for the water to drain. Then I just switch the valve to fill and let the tank fill. It takes a lot less time, and I can spend a lot of that time doing something else while I wait. Definitely a game-changer

Used it to replace my Aqueon pump
I had purchased an Aqueon water changer and the pump cracked and broke after 2 months use. After reading reviews about that particular brand keep doing that, I decided to spend a couple dollars more for this based on the great reviews. So far it works great. If any small pieces of sand or gravel gets sucked through, it grinds in the part that you turn to make the water flow through or out of so have to work around that a little bit. But, it fit the faucet adapter from my previous Aqueon changer. I got the female connector and was able to use the hose and siphon from the remaining Aqueon parts.I think this will last much longer.
