Amulets: Sacred Charms of Power and Protection

Hello there! I really like this book . It's an interesting subject. And I like because it crosses many and most types of religions, people everywhere. We all have some type of belief and no matter what it is there's amulets or protections or something we believe in and it all goes back to that no matter what when we're faced with life altering decisions or bad problems . We can all say were modern and we don't believe in that stuff anymore, but it's really not true, there's always something primal in us, something we always go back to in our time of need be it the crucifix or a prayer, lucky stone a picture of a loved one, a memory of someone gone or someone still here but far away, something that protects us no matter what that amulet maybe it has power in our mind and our heart . And this book seems to have really researched a lot of stuff well . I really liked it. Beautiful photography and I thought it was done really well I would recommend it to anybody . Thank you

I bought this book to help me find and use amulets and similar things in my art work. I found it an excellent resource - good pictures and a text that explains clearly what is what. I showed it to an art group I belong to and at least two other people said they were going to buy a copy. I have no idea if this would be satisfying to someone who is steeped in this material, but for me it is perfect. i thought the information was good and the presentation very good. I read it cover to cover and keep it at hand when I want to use it as a reference. Highly recommend it for a reference for someone who wants a good overview and a number of specific examples.

This is a truly wonderful book. The photos are clear and well laid out. The content is so interesting. I love all the stories of the way the amulets are used in other countries. It really makes you realize just how much superstition exists in the world. I bought the book because I made an amulet for my mother and became interested in what all the various amulets mean and how they protect people or property. The book is so thorough and I love the way the chapters are laid out according to the type of amulet. Well worth the money!

Nicely written. But not what I had in mind when purchased.

I got this book for Christmas and really love it. I am making my own Shamanic Amulets and wanted more information on what they are and how they are used. This is a good informational book about amulets,which is just what I wanted. I'm still working my way through it. The photos are very nice.

Maybe it is me but I was looking more for the definitions of all amulets instead of the history of amulets....if that is what your looking for just history then this is the book for you. I was dissapointed because I was seeking a dictionary type book on the meaning of every amulet not the history of what amulets are.

I enjoyed the great variety of pictures, but the text left a LOT to be desired.There is an amazingly large variety of items covered, almost too many. I'd prefer a more in-depth discussion of certain well-known amulets, such as the HAMSA (here referred to by the less-standard title "Hand of Fatima").A nice, "okay" addition to my library, but defintely NOT the "go-to" book .

I found this book on Amulets one of the most informative and colorful to date! The text clearly explains Amulets and how they have evolvedthrough human history. Great pictures, good price, and an incredible text. What more could you ask for?
